Why do public school kids hate private school kids so much?

Like I didn't even do anything wrong and I don't act cocky and stuck up.

I've been going to a private school ever since I was 5 because my parents wanted that for me.

They just have to be so rude and call me a bitch all the time wtf? I didn't say anything rude or mean to them!!

In my old private school there was only about 15 people in each class. And that means that if you hate someone, you can never avoid them. Because they are always there.

In public schools people can change their friends way easier because there are so many people to choose from.

Anyways.. Now I go to a really big one with more than 26 options courses. And now I'm going to brag about it. Because they hate me and think I'm snobby? >:( well then... This is how I'm going to act to piss them off even more

I know how you feel. I go to a private school, and my school is in an area with lots of other schools. There's quite a difference in the types of schools in the area. The pupils at one of the state schools always laugh at us, call us names, and generally try to harass us. I remember a few years ago two of my friends went the shop where all the kids in the area usually go to buy food. A bunch of kids from the state school tried to pull of their skirts (we have a weird uniform) and punched them. The next day, a notice was put out to our school that we should try to avoid pupils from other schools when buying food, and always walk in groups. If we were harassed, we should just ignore them and hurry back to school. I thought this was so ridiculous. If they hit us, can we not hit back? Why can we not retaliate? It was all because the school didn't want to look bad.
But anyway, The insults kept coming. Some people I know are scared to walk past a large group of the state school kids because don't want to be harassed. The other day, though, I went to the shop with one of my friends at lunch. Basically no one at our school does this. We got some really weird looks, and snide comments, but we just waited in line like everyone else. We chatted to a few kids from the state school, and they asked us some strange questions, that really would have been considered rude at our school. They asked us if we were posh, how much it cost to go to our school, were we all really smart, and did we pay to get good grades? We answered them truthfully - that is, no, no, no, and no. We were really surprised that they seemed to be asking us these questions in all seriousness. I suppose it's just a major prejudice and class divide that causes it. I think that both sides should look at each other objectively, and don't just stereotype and generalise. Honestly, both sides just need to stop being narrow minded and see the situation from the other side.

In my experience private school kids were the cocky and arrogant and generally rude ones, doesn't mean all of them are, just that so many of them were. It's just how they were treated by other private school kids I guess. I went to private school myself and they were definitely the most exclusive and gossipy in my experience. Again though not all of them are and there was a rare nice one but I mean I found them to be very rare.

Hey i actually had that same problem i went from private school to military school to a public school and then a christian school.

When most of my classmates in public school found out i came from a private school most of them just werent comfortable with me there and tried there best to make my life hell.

But everything changed when i started ooening up to them and sharing some of my stories and struggles and seeing that i was no different from them they basically reached out a hand and welcomed me in and by far theyre the best friends i ever made growing up.

In your case since you're a girl most people in HS make the assumption that all girls that come from private schools are just like the girls in the movie MEAN GIRLS. Which dont get me wrong almost all the time it happens and people really hate these kinds of girls even us guys in the adukt world. So basically theyre just labeling you for stupid stuck up chicks that really have just given you a bad image you dont really have.

My suggestion dont be mad at them or hate them for it. Open up and be patient and kind and understanding. you'll see that theyll open up and you'll have good friends in no time.

I go to a public school, but I get this. It's just people being stereotypical. My best friend goes to a private school and she's nice enough for me to consider my friend. (Although she did go to public school as a child) but then she introduced me to other people at her school who've gone to a private school their whole life and some of them are actually a lot nicer than people at my public school. It's just that we're envious. There's really nothing to do to change this except prove them wrong. Just be nice to them and if they can't see how great you are then they're the ones who are snobby. Also about what you said before about it being easier for us to make new friends-that's not necessarily true. I can see why you'd assume that though. Most kids in my school already have friends, which is why they're not open to anymore. Of course this doesn't apply everywhere. Anyways good luck and just remember that if they can't see how awesome you are then they're the ones who are snobby!

It's because of the stereotype that only snobby rich kids, who have no idea what it's like to struggle financially, go there because their parents don't want them to be around "lesser people".

Like I said, it's just a stereotype. I've gone to a public school from 6th to 9th grade and I was poor growing up (I got in because of a scholarship). There are obnoxious kids in all schools and from all backgrounds, it's just that rich kids are able to flaunt what they have.

It's quite alright, you're still young and you're learning :)

Just start appreciating what you have if you don't already and learn to sympathize with others, especially those who don't have as much as you, and show them that you're not "stuck up" like how other rich kids might be. Poor people tend to be more generous and kind by nature because they know what it means to have nothing, so in time those kids will be more open and accepting of you :)

But don't let them take advantage of you either. And what I mean by that is don't try to buy their friendship, because they will just start asking you for money and material things. Not all poor kids would do that, but there are some that would, so be careful too.

personally i hate private schools because you essentially pay for your grades. Got an 89.99? They round that up in private schools not public schools. They curve tests in private schools and do so many other shady things to make themselves seem better but really they just cheat the system.

Better than private school. :/ In private schools the kids are different. In public schools you get exposure to what kids are really like. I started private school at 3 and was homeschooled at 9,10,11. At age 12 I went to another private school at age 13 I was homeschooled and I'm still homeschooled except I get to take classes at school.
