Would you rather feel pain or nothing at all?

Question

Like the pain of getting your heart broken, fall and scrap your knee, pain of being betraded, etc.

Nothing at all would be you had no emotions to feel so not just the negative ones but also the positive ones.

Pain is, well, painful, bit it is just as beautiful and necessary as joy and peace. Physical pain keeps us alive and gets us out of bad situations. There is some kind of brain disorder that keeps a person from feeling pain, and these people usually die young... they wouldn't have the instant reflex to pull their hand off a hot stove, and they wouldn't be able to tell if anything was hurting inside them. Things like that.

Emotional pain is what I think the song is talking about, and yes, I'd rather feel pain in that sense. than nothing. I've been in a lot of pain in the past, and while it wasn't pleasant, I learned to live with it, understand it, and be at peace with it. The initial phase of emotional pain is the worst. It is usually wave after wave of tears and wanting to rip my hair out. Buy after I calm down from that, it's just like a gloomy sea, and it is an ache that I find peaceful and meditative. I always think a lot and feel a lot when I am in pain, and eventually it eases off and I just feel sleepy and warm

Feel nothing. I always wondered that about the organization from kingdom hearts. I wouldn't mind having no emotional feelings. Although you kinda need physical feelings, they let you know what's going on with your body. Like if I accidentally broke my arm, I need that pain to let me know that I gotta do something about it.

I would rather feel pain. I would feel like I'm disconnected from my body if I weren't able to feel pain. As much as I am tempted to not want to feel all of those types of pain, there are pleasurable type of pains, I wouldn't want to eliminate.

I'd rather feel something. That's the beauty of being human, we have highs and we have lows. You can't have an appreciation for one without the other. How else are we supposed to know how great happiness is without having felt sadness?

There is a movie called Equilibrium. Where the government tricked people into taking a drug to not have any feelings at all. They all practically turned to robots. But there was a rebellion of people who stopped taking the drug.

Ideally I'd like to be able to turn my emotions off like a switch so that they aren't active when I need focus and clarity.

I guess between the two choices given , I'd go with feel nothing.

It's not just a matter of negative or nothing. Anger and frustration enhances determination, removes inhibition and clarifies purpose. They can foster ambition and discipline. It's a combination of numbing to some extent to deal with pain while being angry enough to use your newfound armor to push through obstacles.

I don't care is the option that I choose, because even though I don't seek pain, it doesn't mean I definitely avoid it... you know what they say "no pain no gain", so pain can turn out to be our friend in some circumstances
