Greek civilization was absolutely more admirable. greeks had curiosity and esthetical view to world.
they were curious about nature and communities without looking for a benefit. because of this, philosophia and experimental science begun there. egypt and other civilization were interested in science just in order to use it in their daily life or in order to avoid natural disasters. but greeks were interested in science because they were curious how natural events took place.
As for technique the first mechanism was invented in greece not in muslim world contrary to popular belief.(Aeolipile by hero of alexandria and Antikythera mechanism probibly by archimedes.)
they were pioneer in scientifical institution as well.
they had initiating role in development of democracy (cleistenes).
They were advanced in many branch of art such as , literature, sculpture, architecture,(they also believed importance of theroetical sight on art. even wrote books)
They developted social life building odeons and theatres.
They were well versed in city planing too.
They were generally open minded too. greeks took some good parts of persian civilization such as satraps and sensibility when alexander conquered east.
They started a major change in history with political and cultural point of view after conquest of east.
Roman just followed greece.
l am not greek :-) really
Mayans.
Scared the shit out of half the population even after so many centuries after their extinction.

Again, Im probably biased due to my vast research of the country but definitely China.
They're actually truly the true inventors for most major things in this world (that the west have stolen and taken credit for). So much so that the Brits had NOTHING to show or give to the Chinese because they already had EVERYTHING possible, apart from the drug called opium that the brits got them Chinese addicted to so they could have at least something to trade the Chinese with, and honestly that REALLY says something.
Also, Chinese architecture, art and lores are truly mind blowing and captivating.
Whats funny now though is the west are complaining about the Chinese making copies of western products when in actuality they really have every right to do so if you consider history.
there's so much more I could write but don't wanna make this too long
It's a 3 way tie between Greece, Rome and Egypt.
I literally just finished an essay about the Roman Empire, and I'm sort of tempted to lean towards Rome tbh, but they're all admirable in one way or another.
Sumer/Mesopotamia. It was also the first ancient civilisation to use actual language so I'm a bit baffled it isn't on your list.

The Minoan culture had plumbing, a matriarchy and plumbing! They'd get my vote if they were an option.
Rome had plumbing and managed to suss managing a continent-wide empire. Shame about their human rights record and their inability to deal with strife and an empire too big.
The Persians were really advanced in philosophy and pre-secular science.
The Greeks were so good with culture, administration and shipbuilding that the Romans copied them.
Other than grand statues, river systems and tyrannical emperors, I don't know much about the Chinese legacy.
Egypt based its entire economy and culture on slave labour, the afterlife of its Pharaohs and the annual flooding of the Nile. If the crops failed for another reason, they were all screwed. They were also conquered several times over.
Huh... ancient civilizations were less civilized than we assume and there are a lot of facts which are less known. Some of these are positive , others negative.
This throws a new light on ancient Greece, for instance:

Ancient people are not stupid as you think.
ancient Egyptian have airplane models, laser and mysterious curse in their pyramids which scientists still can't explain today.
And modern people are not smart as they think themselves Chinese discovered the chemical principles to make gunpowder and ancient guns over one thousand years ago which many modern adults can't figure out lol
Egyptian laser? that would be reflection of the sun and mirrors, I suppose
mysterious curse in their pyramids which scientists still can't explain today? A hoax.
Indeed, the Chinese discovered gunpowder but Greeks and Bengalis seem to have had something similar. It took centuries to get from the formula of gunpowder to functioning guns.
About ancient Greek use of incendiary products: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_fire
But I have seen a documentary movie about taylorization in the mass fabrication of crossbow elements by Chinese It was rather impressive.
I don't say they were that stupid. We mainly overestimate their society. It was brutal by today's standards.
If their power guns weren't functioning, how could the ggoddamn Mongolians steal their cannons bombing Eastern Europe?
I agree they can be brutal mostly that's because they were more religious than we assume
but their civilizations both East and West are amazing and deserve respect.
"During the Han Dynasty, in the year 142 a man named Wei Boyang was the first to write about gunpowder." ( en.wikipedia.org/.../History_of_gunpowder )

You quoted a REALLY BAD reference there. The worst.
The romans or greeks, the romans gave us the romance languages of today, including English. They provide the foundation for western civilisation and the greeks gave us a democratic society. The romans integrated the christian laws that make up the greatest instituions of democract and the inventions they carried over remain with us.
English is a Germanic language
This is why y'all need to stay in school, kids 😂😂😂
@cjmtherfcker never said it wasn't. The Romans influenced the development of English post 11th century. Modern English, (less so American English) is 29% latin

You said English was a Romance language
@cjmtherfcker modern English is germanic in origin. But modern English changed drastically from it's origin because of influence from the romans
That doesn't mean it was a romance language
@cjmtherfcker again. .. never said it is.
" the romans gave us the romance languages of today, including English."
Its all good. I just misunderstood the meaning of this sentence
Greece was advanced, first democracy, great thinkers, athletes and artists. Definitely best civilization.
There are only 4 ancient civilizations... namely Egypt, China, Mesopotamia and India. The rest are all pretty new in comparison.
Egypt and India are my favs... very similar too...
Can't decide between Greece and Roma. I love the Greek statues how they look now but I found out that they were painted by the Greeks in the past which kinda ruins it. They still had all those philosophers and scientists which makes up for it I guess
Egypt. As it seems to be the Original legacy civilization of what was a preantideluvian high civilization
mohenjo daro was really advanced, from what I remember it had working plumbing
Bollywood is making a movie on it too..

Oh sweet
I admire the Romans probably the most, because of the harsh conditions that they must've went through, and the numerous people they conquered
My choice is not listed here. If I have to choose from list only, then it can be Ancient Egypt with some exceptions.
Rome since I like playing Rome Total War, and I'm in the architecture field - where Rome contributed quite a lot.
@idkthus Its down to opinion but this is probably the most important one.
