Its not a case of one size fits all but most of muslims are very zealous about there religion even if they not extremist they have a strict sense code they live and judge by. I can't imagine something more offensive to a muslim family than denoucing there god. Even if the family itself is willing look past it and thats a big if the rest of the community would turn on you. You pretty much be forced out as pariah. They very secretive and from the one or two i befriended they keep there personal matters really tight lipped even if there friendly talkertive about most of other topics.

I immediately dislike people who say they'd abandon their child for anything. Idgaf if that child is gay, trans, athiest or satan himself you should raise that child to the best of your ability till they're able to stand on their own too feet.
I've said things before to test waters lmao they were just like "don't say that" and that's as far as it goes. My dad isn't religious but my mom is very religious and so is her whole family so she's really strong on that stuff. My parents would never disown me though lmao unless maybe I really fucked up. They're honestly the most chill people ever.
religious families tend to do that yes.. it's more about culture and the place where you live.. The countries where most Christians live are normally secular states... this is not the case when it comes to Islam.. in any religion.. God comes before anything.. doesn't matter if it's your child.. your partner.. or your parents..
I am from a middle eastern community.. they will disown you for way less than this.

Hell, any fundementalist will do that, I'm spending time with a side of my family that would flip if they found out that I'm not a christian. They find out that I've recently converted to paganism, well I'd fully expect, the older ones to completely cut off contact with me, The younger ones would be like, cool, whatever
They reserve the right to murder a daughter if she even dates a non Muslim and think they will get away with it in this country all the time red rum!!! From the Islamic perspective you should debate your child and try to bring them back to the faith, maybe even take them to a scholar. There is no compulsion and so they shouldn't be forced to be Muslim.
I had christian education and did the rites of passage or whatever its called. When i said i was atheist never has a christian objected, not even a pastor. People who say christians would disown their children know nothing about christianity. Maybe American christians would do it, who knows.
Perhaps slightly more than their other religious counterparts, but they are by no means the only ones to do this, Christians, Mormons, Jews, and Muslims all do this.
I would imagine it depends on what sort of family they are and how they practice their religion. You get families that are religious, but more relaxed about it, and you get the straight edge, super religious ones.
