I'm actually native American and don't mind too much if people dress like that for Halloween as log as they aren't trying to make fun of the culture. I don't see the big deal, it's a costume they aren't trying to be rude
I’m White (mainly German and Scottish) and Japanese but I wouldn’t care if someone wore a dirndl or kilt or kimono, so no, I wouldn’t consider these cultural appropriation. I just don’t see it that way I guess.
If cultural appropriation is legit then all of you stop culturally appropriating industrialisation and give all your factories to the UK

nobody own culture it is not appropriation non white should stop appropriating white culture and dressing like medivial Knight and princess and witch and wizard
If someone of a specific culture doesn't feel that it's respectful for you to wear their things, just don't wear it. It's not that difficult. There are billions of costumes in the world.
What about white people costume nobody complaint about them and some people from that culture don't mind wearing it and many actually encourage it and other talk about cultural appropriation some time only white liberal talk about it so who should we listen to?
@ap234 Well then, yes. Like I said, if a certain group of people aren't okay with you wearing their cultural items just don't do it. No matter the race.
The whole point of Halloween is your not being yourself.
Last year I was in a costume shop with an irish girl and she said she liked this native American costume they had. But she didn't want to be culturally insensitive. So I said to dress up as a leprechaun.
She didn't find it very funny but she then understood my point and became a zombie indian for Halloween.

Its not a representation of real people. Its a bit of fun.
I think attempting to be politically correct is just another way we are making ourselves weak as a people. Pandering to people's sensitivities is annoying.
No one ''owns'' his/her culture. If someone would imitate my own - I'd look how intelligent, intuitive and informed he/she does it. And conclude on his/her personality. Not less, and not more.
"Of course. As part of the supernatural creature community and specifically part of the undead community, I find it very offensive when people dress up as zombies and act dumb during Halloween."

Don't worry. You don't have to be offended. Those not of those ethnicities will gladly be offended for you.
@Partywithtom ahaha true
For the record I'm mostly German and Scottish and my name is Scott. No Japanese that I'm aware of tho.
I think people need real problems if they have time to get all up in arms over what people wear that doesn't hurt them in the least.
I honestly wouldn't mind people wearing my cultural costumes, but if they become annoyingly stereotypical that's a problem.
PC is killing our way of life.
No pirates were harmed in my answer.
This is another issue with "costumes" 😂

@ap234 What is a white people costume? Kilts? Viking hats?
Yes those are from white culture

It’s Halloween. These are not “cultural appropriations”. They would be jokes in the native culture. So laugh at them and move on.
Who cares? It's a pointless thing to get upset about.
Yeah but they’re funny so tbh people should stop whining
I have a pharaoh outfit that I made myself, and if I feel like wearing it, I'm gonna wear it.
There is no such thing as cultural appropriation- it is a manufactured grievance that has no legitimate grounds to exist.

It's silly that people get so worked up over harmless stuff like that.
I mean, I'm Scottish, but I'm not going to get triggered if I see a black or Asian guy wearing a kilt.

I don't think it's wrong to wear these costumes.
Ah what I can't dress up as the mario bros in case I be mocking Italians?
