I can't wait to see this movie flop. The Marvel movie department apparently won't learn what comicsgate has been telling Marvel Comics for years now - if you go woke, you go broke.
I don't see it as objectification. I do see it as unwanted harassment. I resent being told to smile. My facial expression is no one's business, but mine. My first reaction is to punch the gobshite in the mouth and tell them to smile. A few have suffered when they got me at a bad moment.
Who cares? See this right here is why I pray something happens and the whole world becomes Mad Max in real life. Then all the special snowflakes and retards will die off and the gene pool will be cleansed. Then we can start over and maybe have a world where questions like this aren’t asked and political correctness doesn’t exist.
Are you fucking serious i couldn't even take that seriously for real the concept is so ducking stupid that i really couldn't take it seriously i feel like more and more dumb women will make up any excuse as to target men these days i can't i swear and i don't mean you by the way i just mean women who complain over everything and then try to blame men for there fucking problems
It's not that deep. Can it be annoying? Most certainly. You don't know what a person is dealing with so it's not your place to tell them to smile. It gets quite annoying having strangers telling you what to do but I do not think that it qualifies as objectification.
What people get wrong is they think men objectify women but we don't, we admire women, we appreciate them. There's a massive different between objectifying and admiring.
Ok the problem here is that captain marvel is the epitome of pushing a character because of ideology. I was hoping the movies wouldn't go this way but they are doing.
I get what you mean by other superheroes not smiling but the real problem is that she has no emotion in any of the trailer. Bit like with the comic book counterpart if we don't see her as the next Tony Stark it because sexism. In the comics they wanted her to be the next Spiderman.

Some advice for men:
Don't look anywhere on a woman except for her eyes. Never compliment them. Never pay any special attention to them. Never show interest in their mental or physical well-being. Never buy them drinks or take them on dates to try and win their affection. Don't give them advice on how to deal with problems. Treat them like equals: like men.
You will be much happier, healthier, and richer if you stop being concerned with women in general.
Or you can circumvent Feminist Derangement Syndrome altogether by recruiting from Latin America or East Asia. Then you can say: "I LIKE your boobs!" .. and she will take it as a compliment.
"Don't look anywhere on a woman except for her eyes." How DARE You! Do you just ASSUME you are entitled to harass her with your gaze? "Never compliment them." You misogynist pig! You don't want women to feel good in their bodies! Stop shaming! "Never pay any special attention to them." Women were oppressed for centuries - the problem won't fix itself. If you don't help women, you are a fucking bigot! "Never show interest in their mental or physical well-being." Not helping the oppressed actually makes you an accomplice to their oppression! You sexist pig! "Don't give them advice on how to deal with problems." So you want women to fail! Blatant sexism! "Treat them like equals: like men." Women are not merely men - they are so much more. They are mothers, and housewives, and freaks in the bed, and excellent cooks - SHOW RESPECT YOU MISOGYNIST!
Nothing is ever good enough. Why even bother making an effort for women? Put that effort into yourself and you'll actually have something to be proud of.
I think the problem with the statement is that your "telling" someone something. When did communication ever need to be about instructions and orders, why can't be democratize our minds to allow space for intelligent thought.
And when or who is allowed to tell you something, should men no longer give women advice about anything anymore.
It's like saying a girl's utility lays in being some kind of object to brighten up your day. *There's truth to that. Plus it's the most inanely stupid idiotic advice to life's myriad existential problems. *You must be a hoot at parties.
I don't care how her day is, and I don't want her to brighten up mine. But if she ruins mine with her fucking Resting Bitch Face, I think it is justified to tell her to quit it.
But it can go the same about men who are too serious can be perceived as boring There is nothing wrong or objectificating about people being more cheerful and lively
No. Smiling is a good way to judge character/personality, and it also goes for men as well. I find that if I smile, women are much more open to talking to me too... I though looking at inner beauty was the opposite of superficiality, or have times have changed?
If your doing pictures for them like a wedding day or such I dont think that it a bad thing to do. But if you are just walking up to a woman and say smile that would be odd.
Don't know if I'd call it "objectification," but it IS supremely annoying. TELLING people to be happy never works; it just makes them annoyed and angry.
This is funny, I've always thought it is just because men enjoy looking at a woman's face... enjoy... looking... Yeah, it's objectification, or at least pretty close to it.
I am thinking the same, especially when it comes to taking photos. It's not like I am walking with a smile on my face all day long, so why should I do it in every single picture?
@emmily2396 exactly the same... In my every school photo I jus have a straight face cos I didn't see the need to smile in photos.. I dont think smiles make a person look anymore than they usually do
Because it's a massive overreaction to something that's annoying but not meant in a rude or shitty manner. Being shitty to someone who was only mildly annoying to you is... well, shitty. And stupid. I don't know how to simplify that further.
@Anon-ymous1 and over reaction? I think it's jus the reaction of a take no shit kind of person... but if u wanna be the type of person who is like a door mag and let's people walk all over you and tell you when to smile or brush your teeth... then that is fine by me i guess
Well there's quite a difference between being a door mat and being a polite person. It is possible in this life to make your point without being an asshole.

it looks rather dumb to me.
wait lol I posted in the wrong question
lmao
@LegateLanius there was a question about a Captain Marvel movie. Do you know who asked it?
no, unfortunately I do not.
I don't see it as objectification. I do see it as unwanted harassment. I resent being told to smile. My facial expression is no one's business, but mine. My first reaction is to punch the gobshite in the mouth and tell them to smile.

I think the current trend is that women do not want to give men good feelings without written permission.

@Dargil True enough. Those are cultures where women are still taught that they're supposed to be an asset to their man, not just another expenditure.
To whoever downvoted me, let me ask a question.
Do powerful men chase women or do women chase powerful men?
They celebrate femininity and enjoy compliments. Sometimes even moderate cat calls.
"Don't look anywhere on a woman except for her eyes."
How DARE You! Do you just ASSUME you are entitled to harass her with your gaze?

I think that's about right
^^^ somebody gets it.
Nothing is ever good enough. Why even bother making an effort for women? Put that effort into yourself and you'll actually have something to be proud of.
@Benedek38. I think you have this figured out. No matter what we do... we lose.
I think the problem with the statement is that your "telling" someone something. When did communication ever need to be about instructions and orders, why can't be democratize our minds to allow space for intelligent thought.

If you think of it it is a form of objectification. It's like saying a girl's utility lays in being some kind of object to brighten up your day.
Plus it's the most inanely stupid idiotic advice to life's myriad existential problems.

Depends on the context.
If it's said in a patronising way or by a randomer, then yes.
But a friend encouraging another friend to smile is nice. It's healthy to smile.
It can be annoying to be told to smile if you're really not feeling it or have a bad case of resting bitch face (like me)
If your doing pictures for them like a wedding day or such I dont think that it a bad thing to do. But if you are just walking up to a woman and say smile that would be odd.
I think it's good advice because it makes her more attractive and approachable because she looks friendly.
Incidentally, I smile a lot myself, so it's not as if I don't follow my own advice.
Well It depends on the situation. Though 98% of the time it's not a form of objectification.
Now someone says something along the lines of, "You should just look pretty in smile like you're supposed to" that is objectification.
Wonderful, more feminazi crying about something that's a complete non-issue to anyone that has even a tenuous grasp on reality and sanity.
The article, not your post. Just so there's no confusion.
Sexist? No
Annoying? Yes.
Next time someone tells her to smile she should jus say "fuck off.. no. . I can do what I like"
Problem solved
I am thinking the same, especially when it comes to taking photos. It's not like I am walking with a smile on my face all day long, so why should I do it in every single picture?
@emmily2396 exactly the same... In my every school photo I jus have a straight face cos I didn't see the need to smile in photos.. I dont think smiles make a person look anymore than they usually do
But maybe it's jus me
Look any more attractive than they usually do*
I think "fuck off" is a shitty and stupid response, but yeah is it sexist? no. Annoying? for sure.
@Anon-ymous1 well if you don't want a shitty response don't say a shitty thing. . Simples
They should know telling someone to smile sounds disrespectful
I mean it's their body... they can do what they want with it
@Anon-ymous1 also... how is the response stupid?
Because it's a massive overreaction to something that's annoying but not meant in a rude or shitty manner. Being shitty to someone who was only mildly annoying to you is... well, shitty. And stupid. I don't know how to simplify that further.
@Anon-ymous1 MILDY ANNOYING?
maybe to you.
But whatever.
That "smile more" depand annoys the fuck out me... but ok.. call me stupid if u want
@Anon-ymous1 and over reaction?
@Anon-ymous1 phew.. I thought it was my good friend devour reading and see that I'm really an asshole lol... time to anonymise
