Because even if you have young children to look after all day, that you would've otherwise had to pay a babysitter to do, and you do ALL household chores--your contribution to the household still amounts to less monetary value than federal minimum wage.
Because what they are really saying is "I don't want to go to work or contribute to society in any way, I just want people to take care of me like my parents did when I was a child."
Greeting people and "accepting their money with love" is not a job.
I think if you can find a husband who is well off financially and allows you to be a housewife, than why not? Be happy with your decisions and ignore everyone else who opposes you. You are not living to please them anyway.
Feminism usually comes full circle and contradicts itself. They're so focused on women being independent that they oppose women being housewives, taking away a choice. Like that dipshit Alyssa Milano, with that failed "sex strike" making women seem like their only use is their bodies
It is not! At least, not by those who have respect for a women's choice of their own career. I have met a few who don't think my aspirations to be a housewife are respectable, but they most certainly do not represent society as a whole.
There's nothing wrong with choosing and enjoying being a housewife, or a househusband for that matter! It is frowned upon only by those whose agenda it does not further politically. Your a person and no one's pawn!
Being a housewife is not only one of the most important but also one of the most difficult jobs in the world. I use the word "job" for lack of a better term, but it goes way beyond a job. Being a housewife, you don't have a set time to clock in and there's no time that you can say "I'm off" it is a 24/7 365 day thing. Housewives have my unwavering admiration and utmost respect 🙌
Mining coal in south america is one of the most difficult jobs. Working on an oil rig is one of the most difficult jobs. Dusting the house and folding clothes is not a difficult job. As a single dude who does everything a house wife does AND work a 9-5 + overtime, I find people who say staying at home and doing basic house chores as "hard work" the most laughable and out of touch with reality
@Blightly taking care of kids is the hard part. That I respect, its not that its the “hardest job”. Taking care of children and a household is all around taxing. I get what you mean but ur also forgetting to factor in childcare.
When are you going to have a 150 lb bucket fall on your head from 2 stories up taking care of kids? Honestly, I can't believe moms think taking care of kids is hard work. How much I'd trade going to work every day and being expected to perform rather than taking care of my own children is indescribable. How much I'd love to be there for them, teaching them, playing with them, etc. I absolutely hate it when people think child care is "hard work". Again, it shows people are completely out of touch with reality. To say taking care of your own kid is drudgery, trade me for the love of god. If there were infinite time in the day, I'd work my 9-5, do the housework, and be there 24/7 for the kid. Christ I can't understand people
@Blightly Lol come back when you’ve taken care of your own kids on your own. Im not saying people don’t love it. But its certainly not easy, to do it properly. Its not like coal mining, sure, its not. Being a parent comes with a whole host of challenges and rewards that aren’t as straightforward as a 9-5 job. Please stop calling me “out of touch with reality” I’v taken care of my own siblings for long periods of time and while I love them to pieces and would gladly do it again in a heartbeat, taking care of them is exhausting.
@Crazychickgold Oh god give me a break. As Bill Burr once said "Any job you can do in your pajamas is not a hard job". Get real, it appalls me to hear people talking about taking care of their kids like its drudgery. What do you do when the kids at school until 3? What work do you have for the kid during the time they're completely away from home 5 days outta the week? And by the time the kids get home, the dad's about to be home in a few hours. You have 2 hours at minimum to have to deal with the kids unless you're the only one who gets them up in the morning. The rest of the time its a joint deal between husband and wife. Again, I fail to see how this is hard work. If you were on your hands and knees mopping houses 8 hours a day I get it. But you're not. You may bend over to pick up a toy or load a dvd into the disc tray, truly back breaking work.
It doesn't fit with the anti-family Cultural-Marxist liberal-feminist's agenda to destroy society. Once one accepts that liberals/feminists are all about death, dissolution, and destruction of the current society to replace it with their communist-utopian-tyranny, then everything makes perfect sense.
No idea. As long as the man earns enough to support the family then I'd be quite happy with the idea. In the same way that if the woman learnt enough money, I'd be happy being a househusband. Either way it means the house is kept nice & there'd be more chance of getting jobs done that are more difficult when you both work.
I wish I could find a housewife... what's wrong with it is that there are barely any left !!! Most girls wanna be like guys and work. But then are hypocritical when it comes to dates and want guys to pay lol. Ahh maybe I need to move out of this country
By who, I don't. You have children someone needs to look after them. Whether it the man or the woman, usually it's the woman, I find this better than sending them to the child minder. Only problem with that is the child is brought up with the child minder attitude not the parents...
No. I live in a fairly high income area and I'd say at least 80% of the women are stay at home moms, including my wife.
In fact, in some ways being a stay at home mom/wife is a status symbol. Life is so expensive that only the highest incomes in upper middle and higher classes can afford it.
The only people that "look down" upon it are other jealous working moms who can't afford to do it and feminists who mostly become lonely cat ladies cause men can't stand them.
The problem is that you wouldn't make any money and one person should make the money for the whole family. Surely even your husband would rather stay at home and do some tasks, than go to work, but I don't think it works that way. Of course if your husband would approve it, why not, but he should have a good salary to provide alone.
It's viewed askance for two reasons- the high cost of living and the danger that if the marriage ends, the woman is left unable to support herself and her kids as well as she would be able to if she had developed a career or continued to develop one.

If you choose to be a housewife then it should be fine by all right.
However with the big feminist movement going on. More and more woman look down on a housewife. Telling her should could have her own job.
Not trying to bash on a working class woman by any means.
Also there are a lot of single parents out there trying to fill both rolls. But I would think the number is like 1 man for every 3 women as least.

Dude, no.

@Crazychickgold Again, no.

It actually isn't. It's just those stupid feminists who think that housewifes do everything and men just sit and do nothing.
There's nothing wrong with being housewife, if you want of course.
No idea. As long as the man earns enough to support the family then I'd be quite happy with the idea. In the same way that if the woman learnt enough money, I'd be happy being a househusband. It's not, but it's also not very realistic because 2 incomes are now needed to "make it through life".
The problem is that you wouldn't make any money and one person should make the money for the whole family. Because a family needs two sources of income these days unless one parent is rich to begin with.
There are a bunch of replies here from men saying they would love it. Most men today are NOT like that.
95% of us are going to expect you to work.
Nothing wrong with it at all. Feminists have ruined society, don't let them ruin you too.
If you are happy being a housewife then it's all good. Only becomes a problem when women are forced into it.
