Your general point is true. The difference is that beauty matters more for women's relational and personal success in life. Sure, attractiveness helps a guy. But being unattractive does not hinder him as much.
I don't think that's true. Attractiveness is good for both sexes for success. If what you say is true, women are less capable than men and need to rely on their sex appeal to gain status.

Well, the media is not very kind to fat men, always showing them as bumbling cowardly or evil. In general people are less comfortable in their own skin.
I'm pretty sure it's worse for women though, because so much of their precived social value is related to looks for reproductive reasons.
I honestly feel like it's pretty equal on both sides. If this was 5 years ago then I would say that women have it harder but now I've noticed that men have really high expectations to when it comes to appearances

Women are more concerned about their own image. Either way its not as bad as it seems because regular exercise is one of the greater determining factors of your mental health.
Men, easily. They always put these steroid junkies with photo shop on the magazines while they literally put a whale on the female cover of a magazine recently.
men obviously. cause the female idal body is easily achievable by just not eating like a landwhale. the mens idal body is impossible to achieve without at least 3 days of hard workout a week and micronutrient level diet plan.

"easily achieve" only a tiiiiny percentage of woman go and get plastic surgery, which is very expensive and not easily achievable. Most woman also work very hard for their body, not all woman go out and get plastic surgery/body enhancements.
Well to get booty injection doesn’t really cost that much, I checked. They also change their lips, I see it often. If they are poor they go to uncertified plastic surgeon that will do them how they want for a cheap price, later on they get infections and what else.
I wish everyone was the way they were born.
But yeah some women work out too, but you have to work really hard to achieve anything.
Physically: men because steroids and heavy weights
Psychologically: women because men ARE attracted to physiology most.
But it's also because girls take the body image stuff way too seriously.
I am beautiful but I was called ugly here by ugly men as well as women so I'd say women have it worse. Even the pretty girls are not spared.
Women expect their men to be larger and more massive, hence men kill themselves to get "big muscles". Guys are more likely to feel they are not "big enough. That research you used is skewed. Listen to what Men say.

I'm sorry but I would rather focus on actual research over anecdotal evidence. However, feel free to show me research that backs up your claims. I think this topic is very interesting and I'm opening to hearing everyone's thoughts and reading about research other people find.

It's common sense? Have you seen the "ideal male body"? Conan the Barbarian? You do realize that looking at some numbers and assuming what they mean, doesn't mean that YOU are an expert on the subject or know what are talking about at all. I can mention the percentage of Carbon in the atmosphere and say how we're all carbon based organisms. That doesn't mean one should conclude that the atmosphere is ONLY carbon when they quote me!
But anyway here, I guess this somehow makes my opinion valid.

Physically it seems harder for men, but psychologically it seems harder for women. Men need to do serious training, but some women try to loose weight in unhealthy ways to do it faster.
That is possible, sure.
For men its much harder, im 6days a week in gym and i can't achieve my goal, but yet there are a lot girls who just hit gym for fun few times a week and still great.
5 times a week with very heavy weights, working out since I was 16 and on a strict diet - I look nowhere near the guys on the magazines
Stop comparing yourselves to the men on the magazines, of course you're not going to look like them. Just like the woman's magazines - those photos are airbrushed and photoshopped, those are professional models who are on VERY strict diets and work out reigns.
Also woman do put a lot of effort into looking good too, which includes working out, don't stereotype 🙃
@Lauren-green yeah I know I can't look like the guys on the magazines, not without steroids. But women don't seem to know that. They say just workout, be muscular. But I was always very skinny with a narrow torso. I can never come close to that standard.
On the other hand girls only really have to dress well and not be fat and they will almost always be attractive. Working out is an option, not a must like it is with men. Most never know what it really takes to build muscle for years to even have a chance.
Lastly, men are attracted to about 60% of women (most of the rest don't take care of themselves). But women rate 80% of guys to be below average. So it's much harder to be attractive as a man. Yet it's women who constantly complain about beauty standards

I think woman have a lot more expected of them to just "dress well and not be fat", I mean you wouldn't understand because you're not a woman but we feel a lot of pressure for things we can't naturally change. Guys expect certain shapes and sizes of our boobs, ass, lips, hips, legs, face etc. The only thing we can naturally control is our weight. I understand the same could be said to men, but due to the fashion and makeup industry woman are expected to have all these things perfect, with perfectly smooth skin and no hair everywhere apart from on our heads! The woman's fashion and makeup industry is a 550 billion industry, mens is only 100 and that's due to a large percentage of gay men as well!

Where are you getting that guys expect certain shapes from? You keep throwing this argument around and I dont see how ite true. I have not yet met any male to be so shallow to expect a woman to have very certain sizes in accordance with the beauty industry's standards.
The majority of men here are also saying women are expected to dress well and not be fat. Yes, they may need some make up too, but I haven't really seen any male here talk about women needing to be any particular size.

The stats about men I took from a poll somewhere on this forum and from my own experiences. Truth is if an average woman came to me for sex I'd be happy to oblige. I might not come running after her or approach her but if she comes to me and doesn't make problems I'd do it. Unlike when an average guy asks to have sex with a woman.
Women put so much attention to their looks because they want to be beautiful and be approached. If they just wanted sex then an average badly dressed woman could easily have it with most men, but that's not true the other way around
But also for men its not impossible to look good, for example my profile pic is taken before summer. I worked out sometimes 21days in a row and literally passed out in gym and that all shit took me to here where im now. But also there is other way to this body, take steroids and workout 10% like i did xd
