The number of cases grew exponentially in the United States because we still don't have strong enough quarantine and social distancing.
China stopped their outbreak by locking everyone in their house for 2 months and having an army of men with lysol trucks spray down the entire freaking city inch by inch.
We don't even have lysol trucks in the United States. lol. We sent the national guard into a quarantine zone with no hazmat suits and got half the fucking soldiers sick before our "experts" realized how easily the virus was spread.
China has actually been very transparent, and evne though they originally dropped the ball and thought th efirst 9 doctors who raised an alarm were trolling, they since admitted they were wrong and called the doctor's "National heros" although it was too late for the one who caught the disease and died.
Anyway, China showed evidence of the virus surviving at 97f outside the human body, and transmitting THROUGH THE AIR at a distance of 4 meters. So six feet is NOT SAFE for social distancing. You need to stay at least 15 feet away from one another to be safe.
Similarly, Israel banned all gatherings of more than 2 people, and that's why their outbreak is under control.
Even Ukraine seems to be keeping things in check, better than USA. But I'm not sure whether that's because of their success, or just them not being transparent about it.
America has a president who has downplayed the danger and screwed up our reaction to the virus. Now he is ready to cause more cases and deaths by rolling back all protective measures. Combined with a healthcare system that is not helping its citizens because of the economic challenges of private insurance. We are in big trouble!
There are numerous articles from other countries stating that they have stopped accepting shipments of medical supplies from China due to those products being contaminated with Covid-19. Not too long ago (right before our confirmed cases skyrocketed) we received a massive medical supplies shipment from China. There are also multiple news sources/captured videos of people in China taking those same medical supplies and rubbing them on their shoes, spitting on them and then sticking them in boxes to be shipped to various countries. Is it real? Who knows. I do know that our numbers climbed drastically after accepting those shipments. There is also the political aspect of this.. China and the USA had a fallout last year and there was discussion of an upcoming war. Trades were ended. I dont recall exactly what it was about but it's all public knowledge and you can easily look it up online and do your proper research to see what, in your opinion, is real and what is fake. The story around this entire pandemic makes no sense to me. An article was released back when Covid-19 first hit the US stating that the virus was in fact man made by the Bill Gates Foundation. It never clarified why or what they were trying to achieve. Not too long afterwards that article simply 'disappeared' and the articles surrounding Chinese people eating infected bats became the highlight. Suddenly everyone is blaming China instead of Bill Gates. Now Bill Gates has come up with this "plan" to install 5G chips into everyones hands that work with 5G towers to fight against this virus. Makes no sense, right? Not to mention most of these news articles are using video clips and photos from events that happened prior to the virus even spreading. There are photos that were used during Hurricane Katrina that showed people lining up outside supermarkets that are now being used to show the amount of crisis our country is in, claiming that those same photos used years ago were taken just weeks ago. Which is not factual, at all. Do I think this virus started in China? Eh.. I have no clue. I feel like, given the direct information revolving around Bill Gates, it may have been man made by the government to trick us into getting chipped. Think about this for a minute... We just passed a law with a unanimous vote that all vaccinations are now mandatory and that exemptions are no longer valid and will not be accepted. Not even a month after that law went into effect, here comes Covid-19. Not even a month later we all the sudden have this chip that they are claiming is a vaccination against this virus. Given the fact that vaccinations are now mandatory, if this is passed you will go to jail if you refuse this chip, forced to get it or worse. They have stripped away our rights and our freedom. Take the chart above for instance. I am from Maine. I am from Cumberland County. I know hundreds of people. It's a small community. As of last week there were numbers released stating that Cumberland county has over 300 confirmed cases. If there were in fact over 300 cases in a community like mine than I would surely know at least one person who has it. You would think, right? Or even a friend of a friend. No one in my community knows anyone with a confirmed case. That to me just looks suspicious.

I can make assumptions just based off what it sounds like to me but realistically I have no facts behind it without furthering my studies. I do know that China, while booming in technology, has less resources to conduct as much testing as the USA. Which could be a reason why our confirmed numbers are much higher currently. China is now in its second wave of Covid-19 and without the resources to test individuals I will assume that the numbers will still be lower than that in the US.
The USA has more cases than Italy or Spain because we have about 6 times the amount of people (population) that they do. And we have roughly, I think a little less, than 6 times the amount of cases that they do, so statistically speaking, that seems pretty reasonable when comparing the two. And yes, it was first discovered in china, it blew up in china well before it blew up in the united states (or anywhere, for that matter), you admit you know china is covering things up, so it's almost certainly China that has the most cases. This most definitely did not originate from the US, where the heck would it have come from? We're a first world country, China has some real questionable practices, what questionable practices does the USA have that you think this virus could have come from?
The below stats for the population of the pertaining countries are from a quick google search, the number of total cases for each country are from (https://www. worldometers. info/coronavirus/), and the percentage will come from the website (https://percentagecalculator. net/) where I use the second calculator to determine what percentage are each country's total cases in regards to their population.
So, Italy has a population of 60.36 million (of which I'll round down to 60 million for simplicity's sake) and has 156,363 (of which I will rough down to 150 thousand) total cases. And 150 thousand is 0.25% of 60 million, so only 0.25% of their population has had the virus at one point or another.
Spain has a population of 46.94 million (rounding up since the the.94 makes it closer to 47 million than it does 46 million) and has 169,496 (round down to 169 thousand) total cases. And 169 thousand is 0.35% of 47 million. So only 0.35% of their population has had it at one point or another.
The US has 328.2 million (rounded down to 328) and has 562,742 (rounded up to 563 thousand) total cases. So only 0.17% of the USA has had the virus at one point or another.
So, as you can see, both Spain and Italy are having a worse time with this virus than the US is.

For starters, the country is huge. It could therefore spread more widely. On top of that, the population of the USA is way higher than a European country for example. Obviously China have an even higher population, but they went crazy strict on lockdown by tracking where people went, or it is possible they have more than they are letting onto. South Korea also successfully flattened their curve so it might be that part of the world was better prepared. Australia seem to have a low numbers of cases for the size of the country, but I know they are super strict on border control. There is of course also the fact that many western countries did not take it seriously at the start and waited a while for a lockdown (I am in the UK and we definitely waited too long - if you look at our numbers in terms of the size of the country, it statistically looks worse). In addition, USA is a major tourist destination. A lot of people visit the USA and if you look at some of the worst affected areas (NYC, California) they are big tourist destinations.
1. USA has way more population than, for example Netherlands or France. Therefore is to expect they are going to have more cases. See that most European countries have a higher percentage of cases and deaths per population than USA.
2. USA is a country that have a lot of people traveling to from all around the world, so had have more traffic of people than other countries. Of course the focus of infection has been overpopulated areas with more multiculturalism and tourism.
3. Many countries aren't counting properly the data, some because they can't and some even doing it on purpose to hide data or seem as if they were controlling the situation.
Here in Spain there are more cases and deaths, but we don't have enaugh tests to test all population, and we don't have enaugh tests for every autopsy.
Then I saw some videos from Brazil, from all the holes they are doing for the corpses, and it seems like they are having many deaths, but it feels like the government is not counting them.
China seems to be lying about numbers, and Russia possibly too.
Some African countries have stated they lack of the resources to take the proper measures and have a good count of their cases and deaths.
4. USA have been a bit slow taking action. Their numbers aren't that bad considering their total population, but still could have been better, and they should be careful to avoid a quicker expansion by ending the confinement too soon.
Side note: The data is right now it's not completely trustworthy. Also I personally feel that calculating mortality rate, lethality rate and cases/population rate it's more interesting than only comparing total cases or only total death. Because I think it's not the same if it's dying 0,3% of a country than if it's dying 0,01%.

USA is a huge country that doesn't act in a cohesive manner on any subject. Some states lockdown is different than others. The lack of uniform procedures in this instance makes it perfect for spreading the virus.

1. the USA have a way higher population than Spain or Italy. Don't look at the total cases, but the cases per capita. Spain for example has twice the infections per capita. On https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ you can sort by total cases per 1 million. 2. Countries do different kinds of testing. Iceland for example tested their entire population. Most arabic, African and south American countries barely test at all and their numbers are way higher. Look at Ecuador for example where they have to burn corpses on the streets, because they can't catch up. 3. Chinas numbers are full of shit. The US CDC is also considering basically anybody who dies of a respiratory illness or infection (including the regular flu, which typically kills about 50-70K a year despite getting almost no coverage whatsoever) before they are formally tested to be a COVID fatality.

India isn't testing really china is not telling the truth (russian YouTube channel the people) went there in Jan he was able to find nearly a million sick in Bajing alone. One reason is that deaths which may have been caused by regular flu or pneumonia are being put down as COVID 19 related if you compare recent weeks from around week 10 onwards you can see compared to last year the death rates of flu have dropped massively week 13 for example last year had flu deaths of 1110 and 472 in the two most common strains. The same week this year had 5 and 58, so if this happens every week you could be looking at around 5000 - 6000 COVID reported deaths which were actually flu. Another factor may have been the fact that outside of the immediate countries surrounding china the USA has the highest number of tourists visiting China so when 5 million people left China before they closed the borders a good portion of them would have been from the USA.
Because other countries actually enforced their lockdowns and don't have a defiant attitude toward it. Americans keep spreading it around and the government doesn't actually do anything to stop it. Until the US actually cracks down on it, that's not going to change.
The USA has the third largest population and is one of the least restrictive. Then place like New York are among the most densely populated places. Shit spreads like crazy when everyone is packed so close together and are too liberty minded to so easily conform to quarantines.

No! It mainly comes down to two things 1. the population of the USA. 2. The nature of the country. The population of the USA is 330 million. Around my area when i walk my dog I will see 5-8 people hanging out here and then 5-9 hanging out there. I think because they didnāt take it seriously and shutdown borders and non essential businesses with large gatherings soon enough, plus we are more of a free country than others and not used to being locked in so lots of people were not doing what they were supposed to
Weāre one of the few countries that donāt have universal healthcare, so more of the population is āat riskā of becoming sick because a lot of people donāt have good healthcare if any. It gets worse if those people catch the virus.
America is far larger than a lot of countries so numbers are much higher along with not all States went into lockdown at the same time and places like China have had to deal with things like this before so so are by far more drilled at dealing with it
It has to do with the amount of readily available testing kits & resources. The numbers aren't necessarily indicative of those actually infected versus not. The testing has become more readily available as of late, so those previously infected before in other countries aren't being tested.
The "number of cases" is somewhat dependent on the number of tests done. The US has more tests, thus "more cases".
The US also has a large amount of immigrant and visitors from other countries and a very mobile population, so diseases DO spread quickly. Thankfully, we also have good medical care and sanitation.
No reputable source should continue to spread the Chinese propaganda of less than 3400 deaths. It does make one question all the other data.

This is misleading. The correct way to view this is the number of cases is per capita - the number of cases per million people. This views it on a percentage basis and takes the larger population of the US compared to Italy for example into consideration.
The number of cases per million people is listed below: Spain - 3610 Italy - 2590 France - 1995 Germany - 1540 USA - 1697
With that being said, the US would have a lower number if Trump didn't lie about it for 70 days before doing something.
Heavily mobilised economy, large cities that have quite mobile communities, a lot of diabetes, heart disease and similar health problems per capita. Meaning an overall tendency to have immune problems, mixing up with stupid people who don't take necessary precautions, and voila.

This depends entirely on who is counting the cases and how. Any number provided by China or Iran is in my opinion completely worthless because they would never tell the truth, and a huge number of countries like have far more cases than the reported number just because they haven't been able to detect most of them.
The government took actions quite late. Yes, flights from China were suspended quite early but still many Chinese managed to travel to the US. When the borders were closed for incoming passengers from Europe, it was already too late. And especially in densely populated cities like New York, the virus can spread quickly.

There is only one reason The President of USA did not put a lock down in time. The population of USA is 330 million and it is more than 500000 cases. And India has a population of 135 billion and it is 10000 cases till now because our Prime Minister had put Lock down in time.
It's commonly understood that the Chinese have severely underreported their numbers, so that's definitely a big part of why they aren't closer (or over) our numbers. The biggest part though is because of country size and the way this country responded to the virus. American people straight up disregarded the social distancing orders for a long time, and the state Depts. of Health failed to implement procedures to limit the spread of the contagion.

Not sure how we reacted late like the other answers say but because we have a high population. In places like new york, local governemnen was slow to act. In new orleans they still held mardi gras celebrations claiming the president didn't tell them not to. This is ridiculous because local government isn't acting fast enough. Thats why new orleans and new york are suffering.
China's numbers are grossly underflated. About hlf of America's case come from NY and the other have come from a country thats much larger than Italy, Germany, Spain and the UK.
Other countries have low numbers because they are unable to test everyone. this weas the case in the US in the beginning as well but as you can see they have caught up
USA is number 1 in everything we do. lol Actually New York is most of it in the USA. They account for more than any country on their own. Too dense of a population and many New Yorkers didn't take it seriously and were gathering in large groups quite a while after they were told not to. Many that were gathered on Florida's beach were from New York too.

First of all, the population of the US is around 335,000,000 so there are a lot more people who have the potential to catch it. Secondly, the US is testing a lot more people so fewer cases are going undetected. Third, the US is being open and honest about reporting the actual count rather than hiding the numbers like China.
i still find this ridiculous still. globally, approximately 3 times more people a day die to traffic than to corona (assuming the statistic you showed is representative, which i happen to know it's not, cause it is being counted in nonrepresentative ways in most nations), yet we all still drive cars.
Well, it's pretty obvious China is not telling the truth. Also we have the 3rd largest population, and the largest international traffic in the world. We're also performing the most amount of tests in the world. All these factors lead to having the post cases in the world. Also, I would like to point out that all the European countries (aside from Germany) has a mortality rate of about 10%, and the US has one arround 3%.

Numbers are being fixed. Like china not attributing all of there n. i numbers to the virus. A one day old baby born at 22 weeks died, and they called it covid19 death. It doesn't work that way. Babies can't live at 22 weeks and not that fast from the covid.
The US didn't act on the virus for a while and stayed outside of the quarantine methods that should of been enacted ages ago. And underlying issues with the healthcare system lead to people more vulnerable to the virus.
With the obvious exception of China, the USA, at 350 million people, with relatively open borders and a diverse population at that, will obviously have more.

Could it be that during the early stages of the Covid 19 outbreak certain leaders of a political party on both East and West Coasts where down playing the virus and and encouraging people to ignore medical warnings/advice from the White House and 'carry on as normal'?
Because rest of the world only test people who has certain simptoms and it is free.
Not like you have everyone who panicked enough get tested and you have all of them even those who show very little or no simptoms and would just live trough it without problems as they have good immune system or no virus...
Because some people still consider it a "Democratic Hoax" and if POTUS isn't going to follow the guidelines set by the CDC, because they're voluntary recommenations, then they don't have to either.
The information is being given out in an awkward way you should divide the sick by the population... We have a lot of people I'm not saying we're doing great but we are in the middle area.
The USA did not respond quickly enough and lots of Americans aren't doing their part by social distancing or didn't start social distancing early enough
Because china is lying and the US has a larger population and population density compared to most other nations.

Because the Chinese government is full of shit & they minimized the number of cases/deaths because they didn't want to admit how bad it is, because the Chinese government's negligence is what caused the virus
A better comparison probably would be the EU versus the US (EU has about 200 million more people the the use U. S (EU 28 countries US 1 but thatās a better population comparison )
It's because they have a largely diverse population layered over several states. It's sort of hard for one government to manage. You can think of it as almost a small continent
