What Girls Said
My beliefs about the ultimate nature of reality are rather complicated. I don't see myself as being a Christian, although I have to admit that many of my views, on a range of topics, could easily be seen that way (ex. I'm opposed to abortion under all circumstances except the most exceptional ones, and do not believe in a random, purposeless universe).
Sorry, can't help you. I was going to say "The Bible", but that's too obvious! :D
The Bible (like any organized religion) is an insult to humanity. It was originally designed by men to control and unify people, so the monarchs of the time would be taken seriously. Not to mention it’s a plagiarism of several other ancient mythological deity’s.
Nowadays people who are devout Christians are typically weak people with a superstitious insurance plan for the afterlife, based on a bronze-age blood sacrifice ritual.
You don't have to convert people to help them. Just do good deeds regardless of how the people you help receive them. If anyone, even a priest or a pastor or whatever says that the only way to truly help people is to "save them" by bringing them to Jesus, ignore that. If someone wants become Christian they will.
i'm an atheist but i'd say to be a good christian you should just continue trying to be a good person & to help people, and maybe try to find more time to pray & get in touch with your spiritual side more often. connect more with christian people, to keep yuou more in check and maybe read a bit of the bible everyday. that type of thing. don't become to fixated on it though, your whole life shouldn't be just that
Well, let's say if a christian tells you it's not good the way you are or what you are doing, they are a bad christian because they are judging - and a christian should not judge others.
You see, the good christians is not that good - they tend to bend everything so it suits their agenda. Faith here and faith there, nowhere in the book it says you have to attend church to be a christian, or have this or that level of faith.
You are a christian as much as you wish yourself.
Im no expert in christian living but do know you can easily be a good person without church by simply following the golden rule (treat others as you would wish to be treated yourself) but to be a good "christian" being versed in the ways of the bible and regular attendance to church seem to be more expected.
I'm not religious, tho I was brought up in a christian household, and we have different dealings than most christian americans, I seem to have found. But the views that I'm told is to be good, help others and treat other people right etc, basically the whole 10 commandments stuff.
I’m a Christian and I rarely go to church because I’m so busy, but anything you do in the name of god is good. Just make sure you pray often, talk about his glory to people, and talk to him. Let him know you may not physically be in his home but you r there and he is in his your heart.
I am not a Christian. But i gotta lot of Christian friends and have lived in a hostel controlled by nuns. My best friend is and when she's with her family, she goes to church weekly otherwise she goes only on special occasions. She reads the bible every night before bed. I have heard of stories from the nuns too. I think being a person is more than enough.
Yes, it is enough. You don't NEED to attend church to be religious. The plus of attending a church is creating a network of people who can help support you through hard times. I feel like we've traded community for luxury. Community is very important, especially for women. We need each other, we need to break through the invisible barrier and help one another. A church group may be a good place to create these bonds.
