Apparently, since 77% of the people who go to national parks are white, the parks must be racist. Some of the complaints are that people of color can't afford to travel to these parks, or pay the park fees once they get there.

I really don't think any article using racial slurs is in a position to be complaining about racism. The bigger issue here, though, is that this is EXACTLY the sort of thing that PROMPTS racism. If the vast majority of the attendees of a nationwide park system being white means that other races need to be artificially propped up- not just a few stragglers but tens of millions of people across the entire width of the continent- then a rational person would start asking what exactly the basis for the claim of equality IS. If institutionalized bigotry and legal discrimination against white people STILL isn't enough for everyone else to compete, then maybe they ARE superior. (I'd like to stress that that's not what I believe, but that's because I actually attribute moral agency to humans, regardless of demographic characteristics- funny how many problems that prevents).

Between the world wars, there was a German subculture, popular among the youth, called the Swingjugend ("swing kids"). While others were all about marching and nationalism, these folks were really into... swing dancing. Many of its members were children of the aristocracy, which infuriated the Nazi leadership, who really didn't like hearing "You go ahead with that 'Third Reich' stuff if you like; we just want to dance". Especially since it was to American music, played by people who were... BLACK. (The Nazis particularly despised the Jews, since "they looked like everyone else", but there was a real hatred for all non-"Aryans"; but a black person can't really hide their skin color).

So their government turned against them, making up some hilarious propaganda efforts- the most famous was a poster of a caricatured black man in a tuxedo (with a Star of David button his lapel, since, you know, Nazis) and top hat, leaning forward with a jovial expression on his face as he plays a saxophone. You can easily find a picture of the poster; just run an image search for "swingjugend". The actual kids in question, not being stupid, took a look at and thought "This is supposed to make the music look LESS cool?" and used a modified form of the picture in some of their own posters.

This seems kind of similar; it could double as both "griping about racism" and "recruitment material for racists". Way to go, Disney.

in the UK, this was actually covered a few years back.

it looked at those that actively go climbing, go on walking holidays in the UK, Camping, Caravanning, walking in Lake District, Scotland, Northumberland etc.

it also included our National Trust areas and countryside in general.

It’s a genuine question, here in the UK for example, Indians, Pakistani are invariably not poor and a lot of decent careers, however if I was to pick say Cannock chase a large Forest area, you would not see many.

I do a shit load of mountain biking, similar thing.

Also with the UK being smaller, you can literally walk out of some cities and be in the countryside.

Where I grew up hardly anyone could afford a car (we could not) but we still went biking, hiking etc in the hills, forests etc.
