I saw a few episodes, and it seemed very engrossing and with strong acting, but the darkness of it all did feel kinda claustrophobic. Which I suppose is the entire point. It felt similar to how I reacted to the 15 million credits episode of black mirror. That combination of human greed, violence, paranoia, and claustrophobia can make for powerful television, but it can be a lot to take in for emotionally sensitive people. There's other shows I've put off watching, like Game of Thrones, because I just no longer have the appetite for such dark subject matter. If a TV show or film is making you feel this anxious, then you can always switch to watching something more uplifting and life-affirming. I find that Studio Ghibli films always reignite my faith in humanity.
Stories we consume through TV or film or books can show the best pr worst of human nature, and everything in between. "Dark" shows like Squid game tend to focus on the more cynical side of the equation. But the South Korean people lived under brutal communist rule for many years before achieving independence, so it's perhaps more inspiring to see how Squid Game is like the writers saying "this is what humanity needs to resist and fight against", because their grandparents lived through some of the very worst conditions humans could live through, so the writers and actors have a motivation to expose the darkness of the human psyche, as a warning so that viewers will move towards the light instead.

You need to get away from the internet, and TV if this is causing you anxiety. It's not healthy to imagine fake scenarios like this, and be scared of the world. Nothing like this is happening anywhere on the planet right now. In fact be thankful you live in a place where you have a mother to be by, or a TV to watch it on. Some places in the world are suffering just not in a gore fashioned Netflix game style. Some kids are starving scared of dying from hunger, you shouldn't be so scared of dying from watching a TV show. Besides we all die one day.
I'm afraid that shows like this garner such a high viewing and it seems as human beings we are unbelievably attracted to peeking in on things we know we shouldn't.
Voyeurism at its best.
We will never not be curious but I do think this needs to stop, if this is the effect on you imagine the effect on someone who likes it.
Don't watch it if you feel so bad.
It's also not a good idea to binge watch shows like this too even if you can handle it.
Girl if this gives you anxiety then you don’t want to watch Alice in Borderland😂 at least in Squid Games they have the choice in whether to go back or not. In this other show they’ll just be doing random things, like showering, then go outside and boom they’re in the games😩. Then they have no choice, once you’re in the game if you don’t play then you will die. To me that’s way more scary.

I suffer from anxiety myself, but please don't subject yourself to things that might trigger your anxiety. Logically, the games themselves are scary, but at the same time, they are optional. You have a choice to not participate if you want so even if it is happening in real life, you would have to be financially desperate like the participants in the show. Don't take something that seems to be too good to be true I guess? 😅
The show is strictly fiction and this isn’t something that would actually happen in real life. Don’t worry, the best you can do for yourself is to simply not watch. Find a more light hearted show that can mellow you out.
I think you personally sum up exactly how and why people argue that entertainment media is psychologically devastating to society as a whole. Not only is it having this effect on you, but you recognize that and continue to watch it anyway. You know the answer: stop consuming these types of shows, and learn to recognize what is real and what isn't.
Well, stop watching it I guess? by the way, the whole point of Squid Game is criticism of Korean society and wealth differences, cool, but with gore... there are like 100 similar Korean and Japanese shows, some of them might be mid milder, try to find those who are not that brutal.
It's a fictional show about a fictional situation. You have nothing to worry about. I guess I'm just so used to the horror, dark, and macabre side of media (I love that type of shit) that the actual violence doesn't get to me as much as the emotions of the characters and the story itself. I loved this show! Just enjoy it for what it is, a gruesome FICTIONAL show.
I watched the show and I liked it but there are billion red flags from the get go. First off it should be clear a wealthy person is in charge and that already narrows the suspects down considerably. And like others say you have the choice to participate so that helps to steer you away.
Trust me, the likelihood that your captured for something similar to squid game is less than a billion percent. You’d have to have seriously bad luck
What can you do? Just turn off the t. v., put on a comfy pair of shoes and take a walk. Go out and enjoy the autumn weather :)
And don't turn the t. v. on again. Ever.- u
So stop watching it lol if your going to iverthink yourself into some bad situation simply stop watching
If Squid gives you anxiety, go watch Korean cinema. Original Old Boy. JSA. Sympathy for Lady Vengence. That will sober you right up. It’s truly a different planet over there.
Art imitates life and if a certain segment of society keeps fucking around they’ll find out they aren’t nearly as tough as they dress up and pretend to be. Squid game, purge, whatever you want to call it, it’s coming.
Quite enjoying it so far. Truth is there is far worse people out there than this game show... Happy anxiety day!
I'm in love with it. Watching it right now.
Green LightThe dark web is not for you, then.
People do all sorts of dark shit for money and fame. You don't need to know about it or watch it.Ya the best would be to not watch it. As for not wanting that to happen to you, the basic rule... don't talk to strangers ;)
Welcome to the world. Better get stronger or you’ll die.
I haven’t seen it, but from your description, it sounds like a very scary show.
