Thought experiment: Would you be for a cure for rapists, serial killers, thieves, and criminals overall to rid them of their criminality?

Criminality is “the quality or state of being a criminal.”
There is undoubtedly numerous aspects to criminality, but one very strong one is biology, specifically what goes on within the brain.
If criminality is the “state of being a criminal,” then what can this “state” imply? Well, for one, it can imply a state in the brain.
Something within the brain is causing one to become more inclined to be deviant. If you look at rapists, murderers, and criminals overall you will see that their behavior is a manifestation of their thoughts.
Why do some have inclinations in their brain to commit heinous crimes and why others do not despite living in similar environments and similar conditions or situations? This is not an uncommon thing in my opinion.
People’s own biology, specifically what goes in the brain, is very much related to criminality.
The question is, if we can develop a cure to get someone to stop raping, stop killing, stop stealing, etc.
How would people feel? Some would feel like these people CHOSE to become evil. Some people believe that these people had the free will to become something different than who they are/were.
I think it is much more complicated than that.
Many agree such as criminologists, biologists, evolutionary scientists, etc.

Such magical pills would be great prevention (if anyone feels like they have tendencies for kleptomania, they will take magical pill,...) however not so great for mass murderers (if someone "on the edge" would know that they can kill their class and they just take few pills, there would be rapid increase in "first time serious crimes" because we would basically take away all the consequences for serious crimes).

So if someone would kill your parents, would you be happy with them taking just few pills and then walking around freely (meeting the murderer in public as if nothing happened) and would you personally trust that murderer won't kill again just because they supposedly took few magical pills? People nowadays don't even trust their doctors and so how could they trust some magical pill?

That's the point of prisons, aren't they? To attempt to "cure" criminals and prevent them from becoming repeat offenders.

I'm in favor of the most effective, practical, and ethical solutions to prevent such criminals from becoming repeat offenders and rehabilitate them to become productive members of society.

Where I would draw the line is if it turns them into mindless drones absent the capacity to think for themselves, for example, or absent the capability to even defend themselves as in the case of A Clockwork Orange.

I hve frequently said that pedophiles do not choose to be sexually aroused by children and I would not punish someone for merely having such thoughts, but I would expect them to control their impulses and punish them severely for trying to engage a minor in sexual behavior. Yes, if we could eliminate such things that would be great, but. . . if we could control THOSE thoughts, then what other thoughts would be subjected to control. . . on the basis of PC culture, wokeness, etc?

Believe it or not, it is usually the liberal/left-leaning individuals who are very supportive or rehabilitative programs/methods to help even the most heinous of criminals.

Usually, from my experience, it’s the right-side of politics that has a more strict/no forgiving type of mentality when it comes to criminals.

There is little link between biology and crime. There is more of a link between environment and crime.

Your cure or mass murder would also include 1) those with just the urge who don’t act on it, and 2) those who are actually innocent.
