@BillyBalls: It seems to me that this is one of the many issues that require further investigation. The person who is ultimately responsible for the security of the door was the principal of the school, meaning if it were known not to lock, the principal should have ensured that it got fixed (typically physical issues like that are delegated to one assistant principal to handle). Now, if the teachers hadn't reported that the door didn't lock or didn't know prior to that day, blame may lie with the assistant principal who should be checking them or with the teachers, depending on what the story is. Furthermore, the school must have had some rules about use of the door during school hours and teaching going to their vehicles during school hours.
