Nevertheless, there are many similarities. The children of slaves are owned by the slave masters; not their parents. In the USA, children are the property of the government; not their parents. Although the percentage of children taken by the government is very small, agents of the government can take you children at anytime for most any reason.

Usually slaves don’t own property. In the USA, people don’t own property, the government does. If the IRS issues a levy the bank will turn over you money in your account to the IRS. You don’t own your house. If you believe you own it, try not paying the real estate taxes and see what happens. The government will allow you to live in the house, provide you pay rent (taxes) and follow all their rules such as building permits and maintaining you lawn. If you are caught with a large sum of cash, the government will call it drug money and take it.

Perhaps you may walk along the side of a highway; but, if you do, the police may stop and questions and demand identification. Otherwise, you cannot travel far without a license or getting permission after answering entire invasive questions. You cannot renounce you citizenship unless you purchase your freedom which in the past some slaves would do. The filing fee is $2,350 and exit tax is at least 20% of the value of your property.

Usually you cannot work without permission, following their rules, paying a tax on your earning and/or obtaining a license. In fact that is not much you can do that doesn’t require permission or a license. Is that not the definition of slavery?

You got some interesting points. But tbh if people openly defied these rules e. g. walking on the highway then there are consequences (getting hit by a car).

I am a homeowner myself and I pay relatively high property taxes. A lot of that goes towards public schools and I have no kids. I know there are kids going to these schools who have parents who don’t pay property taxes. It is wealth redistribution to a certain extent. However I rather have kids getting educated (as long as it’s REAL education) vs nothing at all.

However you yourself are getting home schooled and you already have a literacy level of at least a 16 year old. So how good are our public schools? Some are horrible. But also not every parent can stay home to home school their kids lest hire expensive tutors.

@Guy__ interesting. I was fortunate enough to attend a higher end public school. Many of my HS courses were actually tougher than my university courses (especially AP courses).

@globetrotter22 I don't know if there should be public financing to educate children. I am inclined to think not but I'm not sure there shouldn't be. However, I would want the money to go to the parents or guardians and let them use the money to home school, apply it toward private schooling, or send them to public schools.

There is a growing debate going on right now about school vouchers. That is parents who opt to send their children to private schools should be allowed to appropriate money they spend on property taxes towards tuition costs for their kids going to private schools. Maybe this could be appropriated to home schooling costs as well?

Anyway this debate is getting exacerbated by all the insane and disgusting (yes disgusting) woke ideology some public schools are introducing to school curriculums. For example the so called “don’t say gay” (if never said that) controversial Florida bill that passed months ago only mandates that parents of children K-3 be notified if their kids are being taught “gay/trans” education. It doesn’t even ban that kind of “education”. All it does it mandate that parents be notified and why the hell shouldn’t they? Because there is a very real and very horrifying agenda going on right now to indoctrinate young children with parental consent.

Parents are noticing this crap and more and more of them are looking for alternatives to public schools

That is what it says, but the Constitution is not law because usually there is no penalty for violating it nor means of enforcement and any law without a penalty or mean of enforcement is no law at all.

Now, I don't want to defend men for not paying child support but they are jailed and have committed no crime; let alone convicted of a crime.

Some of my ideas are from the these authors and I may copy bits from several articles, but not everything I say are copied from the articles because I also knowledge that have learned and recall from other places. In a sense, it may be that everything I say is from what read or otherwise learned.

I often respond to people if they explain why they have their opinion. I stop when I realize they only to win an argument and the facts don't matter. A couple of people I avoid, when I disagree, because they are very intelligent and far better educated. Of course, it is not going to happen, but I would avoid arguing with Hillary Clinton but I probably wouldn't agree with her.

My great-grandfather talks about politics and I love talking to him. He tells me how much more freedom we had in the early to middle 1950s when he was in Junior High and High school. In grade school he and every boy had a pocket knife. It only took about 15 minutes to get a social security card and it said "not for identification." At 15 or 16 he got a driver license; no identification required.
