In order for DeSantis to get Federal assistance for the disaster the him-a-cane caused, he (as Governor) must make a request to the President and declare those areas as a disaster area. That's it. Don't make this any more than that. The people of FL pay their taxes like others in every state. They're eligible for Federal financial assistance too.

People that live in Florida are American taxpaying citizens just like New Yorkers and Californians. Biden should be tar and feathered for using the hurricane to make a political opponent look bad. Trump gave Gavin Newsome everything he asked for during covid, Newsome even said this in public, Trump also sent a hospital ship and set up several field hospitals in New York which sat unused because Cuomo did not want to make President Trump look good.
I think you need to draw a distinction between the infrastructure that biden currently controls, and the democrat administration to which biden is a member.
Desantis would be negligent if he didn't reach out for support given current events.
You do realize that Florida citizens also pay federal taxes and are entitled to assistance from the federal government, right?
