What would you do if you found a large quantity of drugs?

Someone on a local beach found a large quantity of cocaine washed up. They reported it to the police who say "The precise quantity is still being established and at this time.." I think that means we had a good time down the station.
They added "Inquiries are being undertaken to establish how such an unusually large amount of the controlled drug came to wash up" which translates as "we usually only find a little bit "

But what would you do if you stumbled upon a big pile of drugs?

Report it to the authorities.

Report it to my local drug dealer

Keep it for personal use

If I was in my partying days in my late teens and twenties, I'd probably grab some. I would have tried some and sold the rest. I knew people back then who would have bought it. And I as much bolder back then.

These days, I'd be afraid to touch it or transport it. I could go to prison, or the importers who dropped it could find me and kill me. I don't need to have my life fucked.

Plus, I wouldn't even know what to do with those drugs. Who would I sell them to?
And I wouldn't want to give them to the cops for the reason you mentioned. Fuck them.

If I found cash, it would be a different matter. I wouldn't be able to resist taking it and stashing it away.

Let's explore this possibility: "report it to my local drug dealer". So if the drugs came from a cartel & the local guy wants to sell it without getting killed by the cartel, he needs to make sure you never told anybody that you gave them to him. Drug dealers & their associates kill people for WAY less. And yeah, I know of people who got killed. Let's just say it's foolish to even have friends in that business.

I'd anonymously report it to the authorities. That makes it less likely some little kids will find it and OD.

This has "someone else's problem" written all over it. I want nothing to do with however that came to pass. There's literally no upside to getting involved. Best case is that I waste my afternoon stressing out talking to people on the phone. Worst case, the police turn up and somehow implicate me in whatever is going down. Better to just keep walking and pretend I saw nothing.

I would do exactly what yhe person did. Report it to the police. There could be a number of reasons how the drugs came to shore. From the photo, those jerrycan look like floaters. It could be because the drug smugglers through it off their boat in a rush when they hot stopped an searched by the Royal Navy. The drugs then got carried away to shore by the waves. In which case those drug muggers could be actively looking for it.

If you are dumb enough to take it and not Report it to the police, that could be your ass getting shot if the smugglers happen to gind out where their drugs ended up.

At least with the police, they would think twice before doing anything stupid.

I actually have. Doing "adopt a highway" cleanup with a volunteer group from school. Found three large bags of cocaine that had obviously been ditched off highway. It was rather water logged. We called the sheriff to come get it. The K9 confirmed it was drugs.

Give it to authorities, because it's no use to us. You don't want to use it, because you will get addicted and harm yourself. Don't try to sell it, you could endanger yourself/ your life. Stay out of it. It doesn't matter what the authorities decide to do, even if they are corrupt and manage to use it on themselves or sell it- it will be harmful them. They will get what they deserve based on their karma. You do you, and don't worry about them.

Not sure about them drugs, but I remember one incident with a large freighter losing containers in a storm, that were washed onshore. People were rolling brandnew race motorcycles with keys and papers out of them!!! Made me green with envy. 😵‍💫

I had friends who found a bundle of weed washed up at Half Moon Bay in Cali. though. As I recall they kept it for personal use.

Id probably sell it , but not if I were in Thai , and dependent how I found it etc , as in if there were any risks involved , probably those people on the beach were best to hand it in.

There is NO WAY that the owner of that drug doesn't have enough money to pay hitmen to go search for that drug.

If I sell it... they trace it back to me.
If I tell authorities... my name will be in there somewhere for some corrupt person to still use that information to come looking for me and force me to pay for that drug.
If I use it... well... the fun will be very short-lived.

So either way, I just run.

Even though I love money and as tempting as it is, I follow the laws (lmao that sounds cringe) but seriously I don't want to put myself in trouble and I know for sure if I get involved with that kind of thing, my parents would be upset with me. Seeing my family being disappointed is the last thing I want to do.

I would just report and move on. There are many ways to make money.

I would report it and have the cops deal with it. It could be laced with Fentanyl and people could die. It's not worth it to take the chance.

There was a guy I went to school with. He worked for NASA in Florida. He was on the beach one day and found a kilo of cocaine. He kept half for himself and brought the rest into work.
