22 old police offices gets 30y jail for shooting an attacker. Is this right in your opinion or is justice gone here?

In my country, Luxembourg, a young police officer had a quarrel with a drugged guy who then tried to overrun him with his car to kill him. The police officer shot the car in self defense, killing the attacker.

Now on trial the police officer got 30 jail time. They went so far and invent stories, the police guy was "lusty for murder" and had psychopathic tendences. And came with phrases like "violence is not the way, every issue can be discussed calmy"

This will have bad consequences, now criminals will be like "Look the police isn't even allowed to shoot us or to defend themselves, thats our free pass to get to work now haha"

Do you think this is ok?

Let me tell you about the situation here. Politicians here pretty much ignore the societal issues here. They have the vision of Luxembourg to present the country as very pacifist, peaceful, green, welcoming to everyone and business heaven. The problem is their sheer greed, with the lead of the blue party (capitalist) real estate business are nr 1 priority here. Ergo, policitians wanna reach the goal to have 1million people in our country and they let in everyone, prices rise, criminality rises..

If you think your story is bad, in the US right now, every teacher in public schools is a woke leftist and they are bringing drag queens into elementary schools to promote being gay or transgender. I would assume if he killed simply in self defence there wouldn't be a problem. The fact he got 30 years suggests there's more to the case.

Actually not really. He was just acting in self defense and had split seconds to react. The trial was public. He has no mental illness. The thing is more that the media want to portray him as the villain

According to Luxembourg law the police could only use his gun as a last resort and apparently the court has decided that he had other options at the time which means that he misused his gun to kill someone hence why he is being charged. Completely fair.

As a normal citizen we are also not allowed to use violence in self defense or use any kind of self defense weapons (like pepper spray etc).
I know a guy who intercepted a rape and punched the rapist now he was charged for violent assault as well
