In my honest opinion, money can buy you happiness. Let me tell ya a few ways.
For example, a new gaming pc or latest console and you can be happy while playing with your friends.
Or your dream car, a Mustang maybe. It will be 5 to 10 years of investing because it will take you to the vacations or maybe to the places you enjoy so yeah, it might count as "buying happiness". Right?
Or your college/masters degree tuition.
If you picked the branch that gonna make you feel happy and enjoy it to the fullest while learning about it, it'll buy you "happiness" once again.
About the "money can't buy happiness" subject, that's totally up to individuals.

Now I'm a business man. I'd pay off all my business loans with about 1mm. The other 1mm I'd buy legit assets like ownership in a business, real estate or loan it for interest (probably the best deal at the moment). I'd keep aside about $20-100k to blow on something stupid if it was legit free money given to me. Sometimes you got to treat yourself. And I wouldn't blow blow it. Maybe buy a bad investment like a cool car or remodel my house, find a good deal on a nice ballin watch. Things that will hold at least some value.
This could provide a boost to long term happiness since it would improve my life forever. Where just buying 10 cars and a house I can't afford and other dumb shit lotto winners buy disappears quick. That 90k truck in 5 years is worth 40k and 5 years later 5k. Shit shit shit of a deal. That huge house 5 years later... who is paying the tax, insurance and upkeep if you don't also have an income to match?

I've known a few people who would never have to work a day in their life if they didn't want to, and yet they killed themselves. They were so depressed and unhappy they couldn't stand to go on in life.

u First, the recipents in this study each received $10,000 and were told to spend it in three months. Giving a gross summary of the results, recipients who already had a higher income reported less change is their happiness than those whose income was substantially less.
I think this illustrates a pont about defining "happiness." If you are broke and don't have money to cover the basic necessities, life can be miserable. Receiving additional funds that allow you to pay for the essential needs certainly should eliminate that misery from your life, and that might be perceived as "happiness."
But is happiness the same thing as an absence of misery?

I personally think that we should try our best as a society to eliminate suffering. But happiness has to come from within. Because there are people that can have their needs met and yet still be unhappy.

That information agrees with an observation of mine, Participating in the economy is as much a social thing as it is economic. People find joy in purchasing articles that they really don't need. Consider Publisher's Clearing House. The lure is the possibility of being a sweepstakes winner. But what are your chances? Pretty remote. The bigger draw is a chance to participate in the economy. That proves to the marginal that they are still a viable member of society. In a consumer society , having no chance to purchase is a quick way to feel left out. We can't all be big dogs but no one wants to set on the porch.

If someone starts working at age 20 and makes... let's say 100k a year ( I know its unreasonable but stay with me) and they retire at age 60 that is 40 years of working and adds up to 4M$. So in a lifetime of work that man will make 4M$.
So if someone gave that man 4M$ (after taxes) then he should be happy. Because he never has to work again and can pursue happiness without fear of failure. Money is not what brings happiness, but it can certainly fund the search.

It's circumstantial. Sure if you have money you can buy food and be happy for a duration. But you can also purchase something that will impact you negatively and you will suffer as a result. Everything around us has feelings , that's why sometimes when you look at something inanimate you will feel it's aura as pleasant or unpleasant. But there is a catch , just because something is pleasant does not mean it will impact your environment in a good way , because not everything in your environment is compatible with everything else. So if you purchase something for your home , make sure it will not cause abuse to everything in it , and so that it will goodly coexist with everyone and everything universesally. It can be cheap or expensive and it can have an impact on you goodly or evily.

I mean if youāre not happy or anyone else isnāt happy w the money they get from work just wire me your checks and Iāll show you how happy I can be. Happiness for me is taking care of my family. You know how much issues having a lot more money would alleviate? Iād purchase my parents a new home, a couple new cars and give them some money for everything they did for me. Iād purchase my brothers and sisters houses. Iād invest more than what I do now. Iād quit my job and start my own little business. Iād buy season tickets to the local football and basketball team games. Iād help other family members, random acts of kindness. To see those smiles on peopleās faces even if itās just for one day or an hour would bring me so much happiness.

Yes! But depends how you spend it. Money can help you complete your dreams. Learn new things. Find hobbies you love. Have new experiences. You can hire a nutritionist, a trainer to help you keep healthy. You can visit different countries, experience culture shocks. BUT then there's the type of people that think "things" make them happy. Nope, it's a temporary rush. Then it's gone and you want to buy some more garbage. If you are not materialistic, money 100% can help you get happy.

I feel like people have both physical needs and spiritual needs and money can satisfy the physical but it cannot satisfy the spiritual. To an extent it can. More resources equal more opportunities. Most important thing to cover is the basic necessities such as food, rent, basic healthcare, transportation etc. And of course, having no debt.
Having more money for better quality education, better healthcare, and travel is also good.

If money lost its value or wasn't important in our society and all our means could still be met plus more, people would be just as happy. What money can do, unambiguously, is remove many (not all, but many) of the things that cause UNhappiness; if you define being happy as simply lacking those things, then yes, it can buy it- mostly, at least. If you define it as something more, then kinda- it won't do it on its own, but it'll remove obstacles and leave you more free to pursue what it is that makes you happy.
