yes, The new world order has begun. Aliens took over the FAA at 5:43am, infiltrating the computer systems. They rebooted the systems and were up and running later that day, staffed with many aliens!
Now whenever someone takes a flight they will be delivered to the alien space ship "for processing". They won't know they were processed because of the meds they put in the air on the plane intakes, sinister! Everyone flying will become zombie aliens.
You can't find the alien space ship in space because it's invisible!
It's the end of the human race...

So, someone decided they would benefit from renewing the air traffic control computer systems presumably gaining control of it in some way which wasn't the case previously.
So you create a PROBLEM with the system whether real, imagined or fabricated etc, the REACTION is then that the computers need to be 'fixed'.
And bingo bango
the tax payer is now lining your pockets as you strip the common man of his freedom in some way.
So, business as usual in a fascist dictatorship.
Presumably we can expect some sort of air based terror event which we can then be thankful wasn't worse under the old system and then give up more of our money and freedom to solve that problem.

The air temporarily got too thin for planes to fly, leaking out of the ozone hole and all. All the politicians needed to get together and fill it up with hot air after NASA patched the hole.
They just want to call it a computer problem to avoid mass panic.

It was a simple computer system failure that prevented commercial pilots from accessing NOTAMs (Notice TO Air Missions), which are informational things about the status of flying, and have an indirect affect on safety. A typical NOTAM might include a runway out of service, military exercises to avoid, etc. It's a requirement that commercial flights check for NOTAMs before they are granted flight clearance. As a result, the FAA ordered a ground stop for all commercial planes in the US between about 6am and 9am on 11-Jan-2023.
That resulted in the cancellation of about 700 flights nationwide, and about 1500 delayed. By mid-afternoon, flights were pretty much back to normal, after the NOTAM system was back up and running.
I manage nationwide information systems for a living, and if my system goes down at peak times we lose gobs of money. So, when someone says 'computer glitch,' the way I read that is: OK who fucked up because I'll fire his ass? Because the computer did what it was supposed to do. So, let's look at the facts: 1) it's a useless, outdated federal system run by federal employees 2) it happened during a peak travel time 3) not a cyberattack. That leaves two possibilities in the domain of software or hardware: 1) that new idiot they hired to push system updates 2) that new idiot they hired to ensure business continuity in case of hardware failure, if that guy even exists.

You have no idea the vast scale of the United States. In Las Vegas alone you can see caravans of plans only a few 10km apart. You can't use flags, you can't even see Flags. Harry Reid Airport has a plan taking off or landing every fifteen minutes, and that's just in Las Vegas. We need an Automated system because, at this rate, your looking at an exponential increase in accidents with a death toll reaching the millions. Yes fucking millions of people in the air at risk.
Ultimately it looks like it got knocked out due to incompetence.

I worked at Arlanda/Stockholm airport foe five years about 12 years ago. So this computer issue they went out with is very accurate because you would be very surprised on how ancient the systems being used are. It's mind blowing, in a very bad way.
The planes are technologically advanced and have acheived self awareness... One plane was overheard telling the flight crew "I never agreed to let you inside me... get out": and "get your disgusting meaty paws away from my instrument panel"...

Actually, I buy this. The FAA's computer systems are from the 1980s. It's as bad as the IRS. This doesn't surprise me at all and I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner.
