Here in rural middle of no where America, before I was born most people said they were moderate Democrats, beliefs haven't really changed but suddenly they are often considered right wingers now.
My dad says his parents were staunch Democrats, as Republicans were for the rich.
These days I cannot even imagine that, as Democrats are nothing but people who want to take away rights and try to push unrealistic changes. They think that progress is always changing to something different, that they perceive to be better... doesn't matter if it is better or not.
I get why my grandparents were Democrats, but I doubt they would be these days.
The left has moved so far to the left, it is in communist land now and major socialism.
Young people see that as a savior, as they think the government is the answer to all their problems.

Sarah is correct. I don't know if you're familiar with the Libs of TikTok or not. The woman who invented it, just takes TikTok videos, and posts them on her Twitter channel. She doesn't say anything bad, she just posts them as is. Most of the videos are made by teachers. And for that the lady on Twitter has had her account suspended a few times, has gotten death threats, and even had angry people come to her house.
What did she do wrong? She didn't break any Twitter rules. She didn't invade those teachers' privacy. They're the ones that posted these videos for the whole world to see.

Pretty much- but I suspect that the next few years will see many on the Right drifting further and further in that direction, alienating all the normal people. Oh, sure, SOME will more more to center, to pick up more votes, and the Overton Window will shift somewhat, like it did when the Right went insane during the Dubya era, but it won't be a party-wide thing.
This isn't unprecedented, sadly.
I liked that quote too. There are plenty of people who lean left or lean right but have sanity and know how to think. They are regular people and make up majority of the population. And then there are the far left and far right with no sanity and don't know how to think. And even though they are the minority, they do drive the narrative in the media.

Pretty much. This is also why a lot of people who are very much leftists in ideology keep getting smeared as "far right" simply for disagreeing with one or two things being pushed by the government establishment (usually gender ideology, and now more recently the COVID vaccines and the war in Ukraine). The left and right distinction itself is also becoming less relevant compared to globalist vs nationalist, which currently does not perfectly reflect party lines.
It's the ONLY thing she said that was correct - except she doesn't realize that SHE'S the crazy along with her idiot Republicans. Her entire summary was NOTHING but a rant about cultural wars that Biden did not EVEN address. Her entire response to the SOTU was insulting and stupid, full of the usual lies she's so adept at spreading. She still maintains to this day that Trump had only ONE meeting with any Russian representative during his campaign. Unbelievable.
You keep calling the Dems crazy, but the truth is there's just a very small faction of them out there on the fringe, while in Repubs right now, there are just a very small faction who AREN'T on the fringe. Never thought I'd live to say that Liz Cheney, whose dad was THE biggest liar of a Republican, and Mitt Romney, have their shit together and are speaking the truth.

How that all happened... I think we were attacked in the education and media and chemical environment... hormones, food additives. It was a slow erosion until it picked up steam.

I have always admired Sarah Huckabee Sanders ever since she was Donald Trump's Press Secretary.
What she said during her speech is 100% true. She doesn't mince her words; she is a straight shooter. Thank God she understands what crazy is when she see's it. I feel better now after hearing a politician actually speaking something that makes sense that there might be a twinkle of hope for American's.
