By "we" I don't mean anyone here in particular of course. I mean society, the media, and certain well-known individuals like "celebrities" and self-proclaimed experts.

If you happen to have autism or ADD, you're not "neurodiverse", you're handicapped. If you're obese, you're not "gravitationally-challenged", you're FAT (and need to lose weight). If you're confused about your gender you're not whatever it is you "identify" as, you're delusional and need to see a psychiatrist.

Whatever happened to shame, acknowledging one's mistakes, recognising one's own deficiencies, and trying to be the best that one can be, and not the worst? Whatever happened to self-respect and basic common sense?

By the way, I myself unfortunately have Asperger's Syndrome, and I sincerely wish I did NOT! It is an unbelievably debilitating condition to have, because it affects everything, but particularly one's ability to find friends, form relationships, find employment and generally function like a normal human being within society. I look forward to the day when a cure is found, and hopefully that will be soon. :)
