Russia will be fine lol. I think you underestimate their resolve. But if they did go down it would be due to Ukraine not USA, and Ukraine would establish new leadership in Russia as they take Moscow. While making deals with UK and US to pay back the help we gave them, along with they would probably establish connections with China as they would pick the winners and not bother fighting for Russia.
China could also use the good will and faith to boost their own image much like they are trying to with wanting a peace treaty.

China do a lot but one thing they for sure aren't known for is using their military like Putin. China would rather just go the more stable route benefiting with minimal risk and that's been working for them for a long time now.

Central asia is a big prize. It oil/gas rich along with other minerals. Historically it was part of the Russian empire and Russia still has influence over these independent states but China is trying to get there. Its bordered by China in the east, Russia in the North, Iran to the west and Afghanistan to the south.
The US is using Ukraine as an excuse to sell off all their old cold war era weapons and designs and replace them all with new updated cutting edge equipment.
