So it's a tax and then they taxed the tax... brilliant. That's California for you.
Can I get a bigger picture of this, so I can break down the numbers and see if that's what they really did? It's before the subtotal and then tax after is a certain %... I think they actually taxed a tax.
That's just fucking ridiculous if I'm right.
I just did the math... they taxed, a tax. According to my math the Cali sales tax was 9.1%... fucking A.
Cali is fucked. Now I'm wondering if any of that bullshit is legal.
I just looked up sales tax in Cali...7.25% is what it should've been.
Yo... they are ripping people off. I bet you they don't report that when they do their taxes. That's some straight up asshole shit.
I just asked my wife to ask her family (in Cali right now) and I guess it's 9%... Google fucking lied. Google is some assholes! š
What the hell is "2 water donation"? Fuck California and their bullshit.
Lmaoooo
I think the health insurance is another word for the tip but itās less likely to be contested and refuted if itās viewed as a health payment and not a luxury payment for the employees beer or car or cat food etc⦠itās just a marketing term that replaces the word, mandatory tip.
$19 for lettuce on bread? The restaurant can afford their own health care with those prices.
Damn right
The lettuce can afford its own health insuance

I would give zero tip if I ever got a check like that. It's the restaurant's job to provide the staff with health insurance, not mine. If they want to raise prices to do that, fine, I can decide whether I still want to eat there. But don't just pass it off to me like it's my responsibility just because I patronized your business.
I wouldve paid it but Iād tell them mfs that Iām never dining in again. Next time, to go order me, please... My mom and grandparents wouldāve cursed them out on the spot and refused to pay the extra charge 🤣
I wouldn't live in california if you gave me a house and a 4k/month stipend. Here's yet another reason why. Don't to back, at a minimum, to any establishment pulling this crap.
I will complain to the manager. Itās not your responsibility. Itās the restaurant owners responsibility not the paying customer.
Agreed!!
What the fuckfuck 🤔why they didn't added also the staff massage fee on that bill. Its only in California shyt like that happens. But that what happens in blue states. They take away the guns to screw you hard
Damn! Sooner or later they will be adding s tax for using the bathroom there. Having a security camera tracking you as you go in and out of the bathroom main door - not a camera in the bathroom itself.
Everyone is trying to game the system. I would have no problem with having this taken off the bill. I bet a lot of people will just pay it and that is what the owner is counting on.
Never Heard of This But California is Quite Liberal. xxoo
I'd deduct it from the tip and never return.
It's the same difference. Where else does the insurance could come from? The products they sell at inflated prices.
This is a more honest approach but a government university healthcare would be better.
It should be included in their prices and not added on as a āsurpriseā. Post a review so others know about it.
I would ask the server if they had health insurance. If they do, I would as if they have to pay in too. Depending on the answers, I would take the appropriate act on Yelp or some other forum.
It is weird, especially for a place like Alimento which is already silly pricy. $1.50 for a glass of (maybe purified) tap water? Come on, now.
The customer will cover it anyway :) If not ''directly'', then via the overall price calculation.
If the overall price for dining out not longer looks attractive, I'll just don't show up there any more.
Details don't bother me.
The problem us that you are in the failed state of California, in LA no less!
I'd count that as their tip.
Same here. Screw them lol.
That's Ca for ya. Democrats love to bleed any money they can out of people. No wonder people are leaving that state in droves.
I wouldn't even check the receipt unless i felt overcharged
Would it rather just be hidden in the cost of the food?
It's the principle of the matter. If I saw a charge like that, the tip drops to zero. I don't do forced up charges. And with what they are charging for food, there is no way they cannot afford it.
So you cheap out on the server? you may want to just cook at home.
Your point being? I see a charge like that akin to what an Australian restaurant did by charging men mre because of penis.. Or being forced to tip.. I always tip on cash not via the card reader.. So if there is a forced tip, which does happen, at the card reader I don't do business with places like that. It's my money, my choice.
My point is you refusing to tip because the restaurant throws on a healthcare charge only hurts the server. Don't go to that restaurant if it bothers you that much.
Oh no, if i saw that charge, it would be the LAST time I ever went there.
Oh and @Roxxy99 I removed your comment. Start your own thread if you have something to say.. I personally own two restaurants.. The profit margins aren't great but they are far greater than 5%. my food costs run on average 20% or less and same with labor costs. Followed by building costs at 10%, leaving 50% of it for profit/reinvestment into the company.
Start your own thread and stop hijacking his, if you can't do that I will simply block you.
@worldscolide bro. Don't delete or block shit. That's a bitch move.
Typical. People like you can't follow simple requests, I'm more than happy to talk to you on your own thread, and yet you choose to insult me. Seems like you have some growing up to do.
Alright I won't. Its just hard for me to keep track of both conversations, especially when you're talking to me like an adult ahd she's talking to me like she is still in grade school
@BradBoy Dude i have no idea who you are or who you claim your girlfriend is. In any case child if you have nothing to add to the conversation, i strongly suggest you buzz off.
@BradBoy Dude prove it. I have no idea who you are or who she is.
Iād be fine with it. Everyone deserves healthcare
That will be $129.38 plus tip!
