Can we actually just talk about what Trump has been charged with?

He hasn't been charged with treason or starting an attempted coup. Whether or not you believe he should be, he hasn't and therefore is technically not guilty for it.

What he has been charged with (as an individual) are RICO violations in Georgia. That's why he got his mugshot.

Having said that, he's still innocent of them until the verdict is handed down. He probably should make a deal, but I don't think he'll let his lawyer negotiate one. Probably at least 50% of the 19 codefedants will work our one. The trial won't start until next year at the earliest.

Charging that man with an attempted 'coup' is the stupidest fucking thing that has ever occurred in this country, and the ass wipes that orchestrated that should be shot in front of a firing squad. He NEVER instigate a riot at the capital/ WHAT the hell !. He said plainly, "peacefully, express your objection and protest peacefully" How the hell did the left come up with an 'attempted coup"? That is god damned absurd on the face of it and it shows just how fucking desperate the left is to discredit the man.

Goergia isn't charging him with that. They're charging him with trying to change the actual results in Georgia to favor him. Not that he would have won even had Heorgia flipped. There is a lot of evidence to that charge. If we use only the evidence we know of, he's guilty. Yet we have trials because usually all the evidence isn't available.

The most compelling evidence in the national coup case us that when he explicitly told them to leave, they did. Because of that it appears that they were taking marching orders from him.

What the hell is RICO? I heard he's being charged in Georgia with election tampering. Part of me thinks this is crazy, another part of me doesn't feel sorry for him, because this all happened because of his massive ego! He should have just accepted that he was a one term president, cross that off his bucket-list and move on with his life and career. They wouldn't have charged him with anything if he hadn't announced his candidacy.

I think it's kind of sad, but at the same time I also think it's cool to experience this, because this sort of stuff usually only happens in corrupt third world countries. We're basically watching history being made!

Actually they probably would have. Law enforcement moves more slowly than the DMV. It's possible that they started investigating as soon as it was , brought to their attention. Once creating their case they had to conviene a Grand Jury to charge all 19 people. Only then were the people charged. Now we need to wait until August of 2024 (at the earliest) before any trial will start. So to gather enough evidence to charge q9 people with various crimes, they had to wait until they stopped committing crimes in relation to that. It ended around the end of 2020 or beginning of 2021. Then to gather evidence on 19 different people, while not knowing if more were involved took easily another year (at least). So we're charitably at the beginning of 2022. To preserve fairness, they may have had off for the midterms. If they hadn't, the charges would still probably happen after his announcement of running for reelection. So really they just announced it when they had enough evidence to convince a grad jury. Law enforcement is a lot slower than tv shows indicate.

Essentially he is being charged with a coup attempt. The conspiracy outlined in the RICO indictment is that he and his co-defendants tried to change the outcome of the election unlawfully. An illegal seizure of power is a coup, even if they aren’t using the word in the indictment. The racketeering angle is smart because it will put pressure on less important defendants to cut a deal and tell what they know. It’s ironic that Giuliani was famous for using the same tactic as a prosecutor. Like you said though, everyone has a presumption of innocence until their trial. This is a very important trial for the nation if we’re going to safeguard future elections from this kind of scheme.

The official charge was "Election Tampering in Georgia". Attempting a coupe on a national level, would be a far more serious charge. These aren't even federal charges. Only Georgia is charging him for now, and that's why he was jailed in Georgia.

Who cares? After being voted into office, he just nominated more swamp creatures to positions of power and then he threw his own supporters under the bus after January 6th.

I think you just did lol. He's not going to plea unless he knows he's going to prison. Based on the indictment you're speaking about, it certainly doesn't look like he can continue to push his bs much further. I'm interested to see if he will plea a deal but it don't think he will admit anything that would allow him to. I think it's going to be a guilty or not guilty leaning heavily on guilty based on what they have in the indictment alone
