I will never come shoot you. You've done nothing wrong as far as I know. I don't feel like your vote counts for nothing. It does. Your opinion matters. It's normal for younger people to steer clear of politics. It's unpleasant. It's controversial. It's "uncool". It sucks for most people. Most people, including myself, were pretty centrist/green coming out of high school. So voting independent is fine. I voted for Jill Stein my first election because she was an environmentalist. And damnit, she just keeps on trying, bless her heart. But now, after doing much more extensive research, I don't agree with her immigration policy, we need to deport illegals. I don't agree with marijuana legalization. I don't agree with her criminal justice reforms. I'd agree with her tax reforms if I were a Democrat, but not as a Republican at the moment. But she is on the right track with other issues.

Our voter turnout is at the highest it's been in decades. This isn't new. It happens in cycles. This is typical before some kind of major revolution, war, or major reform. Right now the hot issues are race, gender, and wealth.

No one should vote for a party. Each individual candidate, regardless of party affiliation, should get a person's vote if they come closest go the beliefs of the voter. That usually results in what us termed split ticket voting, and is the best way to get the best people in office.

I used to almost always vote democrat, but I haven't in years because the democrat party has gone to hell, just like the republican party.
