They usually divorce them for the government checks. The guy doesn't actually leave her. The guy will still be there living in the house and go hide in the closet when the inspector goes in to inspect the house.
They don't give up the man and dad just pretends to leave. It's just for the extra money they get for being a single mom.

I saw a YouTube video of a black guy who had 22 kids with 22 different women. He said he doesn't pay any support to them, because the gubmint won't give him a good job.

It's about indiscriminate sex.
In the past, women didn't have sex with a man until she knew he was father material and he was committed to staying with her and being a father to her children. In other words, he married her before she had sex.
Today's women are into hookup culture and have casual sex with unworthy men who don't pass the litmus test. That's the core problem, and for some reason it has become particularly prevalent in the black community.
