Can you understand English spoken by people of different races such as British, American, European (German, French, etc.), Russian, Turkish, Indian, Arab, African? This is the thing that I have the most difficulty in speaking English. I can only understand people who speak with the same accent as me. I have difficulty understanding different accents. How can I solve this problem?
Some of them. Usually ones where English is widely spoken, I can. The ones I struggle with most are Orientals, 'cuz they have really thick accents. There's a Laotian guy at my work, he's lived here for maybe 30, 40 years, and still has a thick accent and I can't understand 80% of what he's saying.
And I've also had trouble understanding some Turkish people
And Caribbean people because of their dialect.
But nevermind minorities, there are certain White people I can't understand either, like some Southerners, Londoners and north English.
