Was talking to some people about it, apparently so many many office workers now work from home at least half the time. I see a lot of office workers out jogging, walking their dogs, taking their kids to and from school etc. My husband works from home 2-3 days per week and we are talking about getting a house in the country. Anyway a reason a lot of people live in big cities and large towns is for work but maybe not necessary for many anymore.
You’re close to the precipice of a global financial depression at the moment. Cities are very dangerous, very short on resources, and have very high joblessness during major economic downturns. The luxury of desk jobs generally go out the window during economic depressions and people get back to basics. It’s the last place on earth anyone wants to be if/when we topple over that cliff. We have an entire sub-culture that surrounds gang land violence/mafia that came out of the last great depression. While it is glorified today as being cool, it was very blood and far darker than they let on. A lot of home invasions happened in the great depression. Families were murdered just so that people could steal their food from their pantry. Smart people are already out of the cities… This time around you have engineered sectarian violence brewing in American cities just like pre-Nazi Germany in the 1920-1930s which lead to mass scale war across the European continent that turned cities into ruble and wholesale genocide…

I think so... Also being in a big city working long hours no time for the things like your child, dog or park... Adds to the huge amount of stress people have these days.
I live in the middle of nowhere. Most of my job is outside in nature. When I work I put down the gear I have... Take the time to look around. Take a deep breath, smell nature..
Sit down for a hour or so and continue work.
When I get back I get the wood for a fire.. Go inside make coffee. Kiss the lady.
The community here is small.. Everybody helps each other out of neasesary.
In the big cities ( not all cities and not all people) I see people running around hardly take the time to say hi, eat breakfast ( or lunch).
Those big cities take people out of there natural habitats. Causing stress and sickness. ...

Where I live in Pangburn Hallow across the river part of Forward Township which is part of Allegheny County the population has come down since a lot of the people passed away and lot home life has decreased. This is in Pennsylvania USA.
We have several remote employees. One woman worked for the company many years before figuring out that she could move to Florida. She comes to the office 2 or 3 times a year and she loves. it. The problem is that a lot of companies want their employees to come back to the office. If you moved out to the country and suddenly have to come back to an office in the city that could be hundreds of miles away you could be in trouble.
Trends show that younger people under 30 gravitate to bigger cities for career advancement, nightlife, and other reasons. Moving out to a smaller town once they are established and raising a family seems the norm. Then close to retirement many come to the south like here in Florida or Arizona.
It has to. People need resources and they arn't found in cities.
As more and more people become aware of their environment and ecology at the same time as resources become less available and prices rise, the only solution to a growing economic and ecological problem is to spread out.
Where we live, used to be quasi-rural, but development has increased, and the rural feel has left our area. Often times city dwellers can sell their properties for a very lucrative price and take that money and build something larger and nicer out on the rural margins. I would say that individuals, at a minimum, are leaving city centers for a more spacious and quieter scene.
Cities are already dying (except the biggest ones) with people moving to suburbs. But I can't predict if that would change to people moving to countryside.
Many people (especially left-leaning) prefer cities because you have more shops, bars etc there. So that depends on the mindset.
Unfortunately the work-at-home trend isn't doing much for small towns in, say, Kansas or Indiana. What it's doing is ruining picturesque small towns in beautiful areas and places with nice weather, making them unaffordable for long-time residents who don't own their homes.
A lot of people may make the move. But with security concerns of the internet and multiple countries doing nothing other than trying to hack into our internet.
Would working from home over the internet be safe. Especially with the possibility of eliminating cash currency!I love big cities and city life. Small towns and villages are boring. People are boring and closed minded. You get only fresh air and calm atmosphere nothing else. It might be good for work from home if high speed internet service is available in your small town or village.
Lots of people want to live in the city for all the goods and services, however that makes less and less sense with everything online and delivered.
It already is. It's not suited to all professions (public safety, military, medical) but it is gaining on technical professions. Especially with instant electronic connectivity.
I think cities are going to be hit hard in coming decades. Small towns will become a thing again as older towns die and modern ones created. Working from home may or may not pervade in these towns.
I hope so. I wouldn't say that the cities themselves have turned people into totalitarians but we sure do have a lot of totalitarians who live in cities.
Maybe if they got out, they'd realize that there is value in self-governance.
Well, I can’t do my job from home since I drive a truck I make deliveries, but I still would like to live in a more rural area if I can get to work near by
I hope so. I live in a small town and love it.
Half the people I know want to move out of the city
i think that depends on job security. as long as that's okay then maybe
Yes people live in cities as there's jobs there. If you can work from home with cheaper property more people will do it.
A real possibility
