Would you give up a year of your life in exchange for 1 million dollars?

Warren Buffet routinely one of the richest men in America is 93 years. Old. While in good health the clock is clearly ticking at this point. I watched the movie In Time. A movie about a society where time is currency. Where the rich have eons of years banked and can live forever. And it got me to thinking considering how much Warren Buffet makes (6 billion a year just in dividends) if it were possible I think he'd pay 1 million easy to get more years.

This is just for fun obviously. How much is your time worth? If a million isn't enough how much is it worth? What's the bottom price you'd take? Or is your time priceless. I'm curious to see people's opinions on this.

So basically a million dollars right now half of which i'd have to spend on the current housing market in the netherlands, and one year less in the years my quality of life is low. That is a quality of life upgrade, it solves a ton of economical issues in the short term while taking a year at the end of my life I am not likely to enjoy. Because lets say I was 87, i'd be old and stuck in a funeral home with who knows what health condition. If I then only become 86 and its one year less of that I am very unlikely to miss out on much.

How do you "give up" 1 yr of your life? At what stage of life? Does that mean we get a fax from God exactly a year before our destined demise and we get a lethal injection on that day? Or, are we locked in on solitary confinement in a dark dungeon for a year while in our mid-life? Or lets make it worse... You soend 11 months in solitary confinement and the 12th month, you have to spend watching Friends; that too on DVDs.

No problem. In the movie everyone had a digital clock on thier wrist that they are born with they live normal life till 25 and on thier 25th birthday the clocks starts, with 1 year. You work and instead of getting paid in money you get paid in time. So the poor are always on the verge of thier clock expiring so they do everything fast because normal economics and inflation they are always racing the clock. While the rich born into luxury inherit time etc.
I didn't go into detail because the details of the movie aren't relevant to our reality. So if you sold that year it would just take that year off your life. So if the avg. Human lives 76 years. You'd live 75. Get it?
The whole point is to kind of see how important money is to people vs. Time. When I was younger I had my whole life ahead of me. I hardly have one foot in the grave (that I know of now😂), but I have a lot more money than I had in my youth. Time means more to me than money now. I don't know if I'd sell a year of my life for a million. Whereas in my 20's I would have done it in a heartbeat.

I agree with you 100%. As we age, amd as life seems having gone past half way in an eye blink, nothing can replace a year of "healthy/active" life. The zeros on money does not mean anything. As long as you become debt free and live comfortably and provide for your dependants and have enough money to spend 1 or 2 nice vacations in a year with the family, no money is worth more than your life.

I value my time here so much it would have to be a truly colossal amount of money so I could set up lasting change for generations of rescue kittens. Give me a ten billion I'll give you a year... otherwise, I've fought too hard my whole life, I'm going to enjoy what I have left.

Depends if you knew when you were going to die.
If you knew you were going to die young, be doubtful. The older you become the more it would cost. Actually the medical coverage you have is costing you money and the better coverage you have the more it cost.
