Nationalism is not a serious political ideology, it is something politicians exploit when they want brainwashed voters who are ready to give their own rights away. Since the politicians who promote Nationalism is fundamentally dishonest and is doing this for their own personal benefit it does not take a big step for them to be drawn towards dictatorships and such forms that gives further powers to themselves.
