With so much divisiveness, is it time for America to breakup into smaller countries? Everyone likes to say "We are all Americans, let's all get along!" but clearly many Americans don't share that sentiment and are more focused on each other's differences. Technically America is already unofficially balkanized as you have states and even regions who don't like each other.
In regards to rising authoritarianism, America is sadly becoming more and more authoritarian. We have out of control law enforcement who act more like hired goons as opposed to members of the law and corrupt courts that put innocent people behind bars. We have all those sycophantic "thin blue line" supporters who don't give a damn when an innocent person is victimized by the authorities. There's a lot of talk about "reforms" but very little reforming is done, so much for "Liberty and justice for all". By balkanizing America, all law enforcement and courts will be disbanded and each new country can start fresh. And all those thin blue line supporters will become irrelevant.
We also have the problem of greed shown by financial institutions and all those scumbag debt collectors that like to prey upon innocent consumers. It doesn't help that the US government doesn't do much to protect it's citizens from identity theft. With a balkanized America, all these greedy financial institutions and scumbag debt collectors would have their operations shut down either during the balkanization process or in the aftermath as they would be restricted to only operating in the new country they are located in with new rules.
