I wrote that MyTake on my old account. You can let it speak for itself, but I assure you, it's not an isolated incident. And this particular professor is definitely an affirmative action graduate.

I don't know how on earth we have the best ranked universities on earth. Our university standards are so low. High school and community college had higher standards. Any bozo can get even a Masters or a PhD.

The majority of professors I've met had little to no knowledge of subjects outside their specified field. Someone made the argument of, "Why should they? Their specialty is in one thing." Well yeah, but they still had to take general ed. And I think someone who has such a high degree like a PhD should be well rounded.

My Art History professor hadn't even heard of Gobekli Tepe, and it's so significant in the world of art history. Then one of my geography professors confused Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan and another didn't understand what a "French overseas department is."

You can assume they are not low intelligence, but that does not mean they are high intelligence either. Someone with slightly below intelligence could get a PhD in some majors, but they would have to work hard for it.

Unless someone is well below average intelligence, that's true of any degree. The more intelligent they are, the easier it is for them. So the more advanced the degree, the more intelligent the average person is. But it certainly doesn't eliminate average or even below average intelligent people. I remember some students who were not intelligent, but they worked their asses off to get through a difficult program.

The flip side is that being intelligent doesn't mean they can get a degree. There are other traits that are needed besides raw intelligence.

Nah, way too often degrees are mistaken for intelligence. They can memorize well, though.
Lol, it makes me think of that Jubilee (I think it was Jubilee) video rating IQ. And the most boastful, "I have this degree, that degree and worked here and there and did this and that" lady was the one with the lowest IQ... iirc.

I'd like to think so but it's entirely possible that PHDs are so watered down that really you can slogg it out with enough money and time at college

It depends on what the PhD is in. I work in higher ed and know many people who have PhDs some have more than one. Most of the people in the sciences , specifically the life science are very intelligent. Some of the softer subjects like History or people with PhDs in education , not so much.

Yes. Probably the most difficult and time-consuming degree you can get. It also requires a lot of creativity, since there is a requirement for "an original research project" which means you have to create the entire thing on your own and it has to be acceptable by a committee of usually 3 (or more) professors.

Someone with a PhD is very knowledgeable in the field they got the PhD in. Sre they intelligent? Probably. But they may know little outside their field of study.

Not all but many are. It depends on the field. Obtaining any degree is more a matter of persistence than talent.

Yes. One must have a certain level of intelligence capacity to study, retain and acquire such knowledge.

In saying that they can also have lower intelligence levels concerning other areas of life.
