I have always supported the original goals and values of feminism and of course still do. But I do not identify as a feminist because I feel like what the movement has morphed into is not good for society. It feels sexist, which is against what it fought for years ago. What do you think about modern feminism.
Anonymous(25-29)9 mofeminism is a scam and has not achieved anything positive it has promised
even from the earliest beginnings, women were given the vote only a decade after men were given the vote and it wasn't because of feminists fighting for it
technology invented by men improved the lives of women to the point most believe they don't need men. vacuum cleaners replaced brooms, dishwashers replaced hand washing dishes, washing machines replaced hand washing clothes, air-conditioners and heaters helped women to regulate their body temperature, transport allowed greater distances to covered in a shorter period of time etc.
systemic laws and institutions were set up primarily for women's benefit i. e. men get default arrested in a domestic violence dispute even if she was in the wrong
and then comes the breakdown of the nuclear family unit, women prioritizing careers and partying and sleeping around and insisting men set up their life schedule to accommodate for theirs when they're ready to settle down and needing IVF to conceive which will likely result in an abortion anyway and any babies that survive would then potentially experience seeing their parents go through a divorce and then if the mother wanted to, she could have her kid transitioned into the opposite gender or pit them against the father and then the kid grows up with mental health issues
today women are overall more miserable, more depressed, more suicidal, more selfish, more narcissistic, more entitled, more egotistic than women of the past. relationships between men and women have been fracturing hard, women are more unsafe than ever, men are just letting women run the show into the ground with massive illegal immigration, championing for criminals like George Floyd, Luigi Mangione and Kilmar Abrego Garcia and defunding the police
my great grandmother would be horrified to see the women of my sisters generation
that being said feminists did manage to create forced military conscription upon men, change the divorce laws to favor women, infiltrate media, academia, pop culture, got the ability to hold the power of life and death and guilt over men and babies and removed all accountability from their poor decisions in life

Asker9 moFeminism is a scam that has not achieved anything positive it has promised? So, you don't think it's a good thing that women are allowed to vote, have a career, get a loan to buy a home, or divorce an abusive husband? Men like you are the reason feminism still exists. Thankfully, men like you are the minority. And sadly, there are just as many sexist women as there are men like you.
Opinion Owner9 mono one should be allowed to vote. there's no justification why anyone should even vote especially those who have little to no skin in the game. the fact there are NEETs who can vote to send brave soldiers to go die in a war is already fucked up enough
having a career, getting a loan or buying a home has nothing to do with feminism but meritocracy but even then feminists wanna blame men for not committing to them due to debt, infertility and not wanting to be settled down for
nobody is stopping you from divorcing an abusive husband however if he's not abusive you shouldn't be allowed to steal half his assets, steal alimony and child support even when you are the one who cheated on him or abused him or committed paternity fraud. that's the reason why the divorce laws are fucked up. they punish good men too and reward bad women
and before you say this ain't the case, there's a reason why lesbian marriages have higher rates of divorce and domestic violence than gay marriages. men are not the problem in these divorces. almost all romance media glorifies bad women for a reason
so yes, feminism is a scam and that's not even mentioning the fact feminism has done nothing for men despite advocating for "equality"- 9 mo
Feminism has, for the most part, destroyed the male-female relationship and marriage, and promoted the weaponization of the legal system to the extent that most men feel very uneasy around women, if not frankly avoidant.
Do you think being able to get a loan that you cannot afford was worth it?
Opinion Owner9 mo@msc545 feminism did more than that. the death toll from the amount of dead babies killed in Roe v Wade in the US far outnumbers the death toll of every soldier that died in the US since the American Revolution

9 moI basically agree with your assessment. I believe we shouldn't deprive half the population of the freedom to choose their path in life or freeze them out of a career, or an education, or deprive them of economic power just because they were born without a Y chromosome. That is evil and we'd be depriving society of the contributions of some great minds.
On the other hand, half the human population is ummm... being politically correct here... cognitively challenged. Or to be blunt, they are dumber than a fucking bag of rocks.
There are a bunch of women with barely functional personalities and the IQ of a tree stump who have jumped on what they think is a "Feminism" bandwagon and absolutely cheapened the whole idea and ruined the brand.
Dumb "feminists" are man haters the same way dumb men are Red Pill Incels. It doesn't have to be like that. Your success in no way threatens me. But... I'm not interested in being a punching bag for barely literate morons who have personality disorders that cause them to blame men for all their problems.

Anonymous(30-35)9 moMy thoughts pretty much mirror yours. I fully support equal rights and fairness for both sexes, but today's feminist movement is not about that anymore. Modern feminism is what happens when a movement has achieved its goals so it must invent "problems" in an effort to remain relevant. They have to continually try to keep women angry at men, and keep them feeling like oppressed victims, even though they aren't.
Also, the movement has become increasingly radical because more and more women like you recognize the harm feminism is doing and leave the movement, leaving behind only the radicals. It's like a distillation process.
Modern feminists hide behind the claims that the movement is only about "equality", and what could be wrong with that, right? But ask them to define "equality" in very specific scenarios (e. g., reproductive rights) and they always get flustered and angry.
Thankfully feminism is dyeing a quick death in our post-woke western society, as it should.

9 moModern feminism is diverse — it’s not one monolith. While some branches focus on equality and inclusion (fighting for equal pay, bodily autonomy, ending violence against women), others may lean into more divisive rhetoric. But core feminism still aims to dismantle patriarchy, which harms all genders.
It’s okay to support equality without aligning with every idea under the feminist label. What matters are the values: fairness, respect, and justice. If something feels sexist or exclusionary, it might not reflect feminism as a whole — but a narrow slice.
You can believe in equality without adopting the label. Your values matter more than the title. 💬✨

Asker9 moWhat exactly do you mean by dismantle patriarchy?
1.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Considering that feminism is about equality between genders I just consider it to be the standard which is further reinforced by every other movement and counter movement such as "humanism" or whatever just being based on thinly veiled sexism these days.

Asker9 moFeminism claims to be about equality (and it used to be) but today's feminism is no different from those other movement. They are all based on thinly veiled sexism.

Feminism is about equality, per definition. I would also like to point out that I have not seen evidence of your claim about how "modern feminism" is somehow different from "historic feminism". Rather, I have mostly seen this argument used by people who lost the argument against "historic feminism" and trying to find an excuse to go "round 2".
Asker9 moSo you judge feminism by the dictionary definition but you judge the other movements by your perception of the actions of their adherents? Ok, got it.

I mean.. If I judge swimming by movement through water then I would not really consider someone as swimming if they were long distance sprinting through a desert regardless if they were wearing flippers or not. Feminism is only one thing and anyone who goes against that while trying to cloak themselves in "feminism" is obviously either stupid or lying.
As for the other movements, the people who claims to be part of those dont really appear interested in pursuing their own ideology and they are only really interested in opposing feminism for whatever reason so I just consider them to be very dishonest about their own beliefs since they dont stand for what they claim to do.
Anonymous(45 Plus)9 moWhat you said.👍 I'm for EQUALITY, not what passes as feminism today.
And by the way I'll fully acknowledge we're not there yet. Like I was telling someone the other day we're 0 for 2 in female presidents. Meanwhile, how many male presidents have we had? So I'll admit we have a ways to go. But feminism has been replaced with trying to conquer men BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. That is not right either. It's resulted in an outright gender war.

Opinion Owner9 moI should add, a war that people want to pretend is not happening.
Asker9 moI agree with you except for the no female president part. I don't think that is an accurate measure of gender equality, and I'll use myself as an example. I voted for Trump last year because Kamal Harris was a horrible candidate. I have some serious concerns about Trump, but he was the better choice. Voting for Harris simply because she was a woman, as many women did, would have been sexist and wrong. I was too young to vote in 2016 but I would not have voted for Hilary Clinton either, for the same reason. She was also a horrible candidate but in different ways. I have no doubt both Harris and Clinton would have won their respective candidacies if they were worthy. They didn't lose because they were women. They lost because the other candidate was the better choice (not because they were men).
Opinion Owner9 moYeah my comment was less about the choices and more about the gender. You could've plugged in two other women. Women hold an unfortunate dbl. standard in positions of power. If a guy shows forcefullness he's decisive, a leader. If a woman does it she's labeled a b****. And I don't know if this ever changes. Which is why equality is a battle. Because as a society we have different expectations from the genders.
