Plus, it's a stretch for the Trump administration to make claims about being a Christian nation when the only religious symbols allowed in the capital this year are menorahs. It seems that the government has been taken over by Jews, and nothing could be more anti-Christian.25 Reply- 5 mo

Not being founded IN religion was deliberate because of the strict Catholic oppression that Protestant Christians left Europe to escape. Separation of church and state was important, but that doesn’t mean their religious values and morals played no part in the founding of this country. The country was colonized and founded by Christians, codifying Christian values into the laws of the land. God is mentioned in the Declaration of Independence, and on our currency.

5 moThat's one of the better arguments it is a Christian nation.
Some countries in the world might not allow such an event. A Christian nation does, we accept many of the others. Just don't water it down and turn it into something else. It's a core concept
He can proclaim anything he wants, it doesn't mean it's true, it's a vision/goal/desire.
We are definitely not Christian blowing boats out of the water with people surrendering. Not the Christian I know... maybe some other kind.
We are maybe more, a strong Christian nation... one that will destroy others if we see fit that is beneficial.
To be fair, it is not possible to be Jesus Christ in this world. He got killed once, others are getting slaughtered today just for their believes. Take all the swords away, we'd be overrun and turned into whomever swings the most power.
ya don't want that... stick with Christian.

5 moGee, and I thought you Leftists LIKED a "pluralistic and diverse society"?
But the fact remains: the USA IS A Christian Nation, founded on Christian Principles. Or perhaps a Judeo-Christian one, as much of the New Testament did indeed get derived from the Old. You didn't get parliamentary government (or in the USA case Presidential / Congressional Constitutional government) out of a Hindu or Islamic or Buddhist or Confucian or Shinto or any other faith's culture, many postive aspects of those other faiths notwithstanding.
A secular *government*, but the government is *not* the nation. (Then again, given the Left, maybe their misunderstanding of that is, well, understandable).
And come to think of it, even that Church/state distinction is a Christian, or perhaps a Judeo-Christian, principle: "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's..."11 Reply- 5 mo
Even the vehment atheists, when asked to describe their ethical and value system, essentially re-hash Christianity when you get down to it:

5 moBecause that is the origins of our country. The settlers were mainly from England. 15th century Europe through 18th century Europe.
They founded and settled it. Started many, many churches. Founded many universities.
Christianity is at the countries founding.
Just because the cultural turned pagan in the 60s and they decided to flood the country with as many opposite culture and religion as they could from the 60s on doesn't change that at its founding Christianity was at the core.

5 moThe early colonies consisted largely of Protestants escaping the strict Catholicism that ruled much of Europe at the time. Leftists constantly try to deny this simple fact of history. The Declaration of Independence even mentions “God”, which distinguishes the Christian faith where Judaism would refer to Yahweh and Islam would refer to Allah.

5 moHaving Christian values is not a religion, it's how people respecting other people's beliefs is being Christian, which is why the Founding Fathers (obviously Christian, read the first few lines of the Declaration of Independence) wrote it into the Constitution.

Asker5 moYou're not paying attention. I'm pointing out his own words. He proclaimed this. His wife supporting his faith means nothing. Christian nationalism and interfaith don't go together. Nice try though. Do you honestly think he would have participated in an interfaith ceremony that was Christian and Satanic? Of course not. He's a hypocrite and a liar... plain and simple. Christian nationalism and interfaith don't go together. It implies that Christianity is superior to any other religion as it purports that Christianity is the "basis" of this country... which is a lie. The Founding Fathers made it clear that it's a lie. "God" wasn't even added to the Pledge of Allegiance until 1954. People are trying to change history to support this nonsense.
- 5 mo
He’s a politician. Which means he must lie. What’s the mystery in that?
- 5 mo
Looks like he is holding some sort of grudge:
Quote:
"When JD Vance told a stadium of thousands he hoped his wife would one day be moved “by the Christian gospel” the same way he was, he inadvertently stepped into a contentious dialogue in India and among the diaspora about religious freedom and, for some, evoked memories of the country’s complicated past with Christian proselytizing."
edition.cnn.com/.../jd-vance-wife-india-religion-debate-hnk-dst - 5 mo
I also hope she’s moved by the gospel.
Asker5 moChristian nationalism is dangerous. Part of the country's "complicated past with Christian proselytizing" is marginalizing and persecuting people who are not Christian. What was done to Native Americans is just one glaring example. Forcing Christian prayer and bible study in public schools... as well as posting the 10 commandments in public schools is another. I want everyone to have the right to practice their own religion... or not to... and not feel fear because of religious bullying and discrimination.
- 5 mo
Society has evolved worldwide. Today marginalized people in the USA have much more freedom than in other parts of the world even in Christian strongholds. You can’t judge the past blindly as when slavery occurred as well as other human tragedies seemingly most people didn’t see moral concerns. It’s better to focus on the future and the Christian values we have as the foundation of our forefathers who wrote the constitution and wanted more individuality than Europe at the time.
Marginalized people are as much on Maslow as anyone else so a nation that can house and feed its citizens without fear of land wars and famine is kinda why more people want to migrate to the USA than anywhere in the world. - 5 mo
Posting a sign that says to not lie and not murder someone is persecution? Sorry I can’t come to the conclusion, please educate me.
Saying the pledge of allegiance each morning in school is unifying as a nation, not meant to cause trauma. Men and women literally died for our freedoms. - 5 mo

GaG admins usually quickly remove what they see or gets reported to them. Try it with an American politician on a larger platform. I personally know a guy who got visited by the Secret Service after he made a few snarky remarks online about the Vice President. He was lucky that he still lived at home and his parents were able to stop him from talking himself into a pair of handcuffs. But he has a permanent record now, you can believe that.
- 5 mo
No doubt. He’s got a record because he’s a threat to national security. he's not in jail tho, he’s free to live
- 5 mo
He's free to live, because his parents could convince the agents that their rebellious son wouldn't follow through with anything he wrote. This might not work out so well for the next family, where everyone likes to mouth off against "da gooberment".
By the way, Germany has 58.000 people behind bars, the United States 2.5 million. That should tell you something about the eagerness and zealotry of the respective justice systems.

5 moWhile it's true an unyoked marriage is a difficult/impossible marriage, it is also possibly the reason why Vance is seen as the probable conservative candidate. His mission to bring his wife to Christianity is what Christians are all about. Will he be successful in his marriage? Only God knows.
But the facts remain. Christians founded this country. Secular values are divisive by nature. If you want a peaceful union, there can only be one governing religion.

Opinion Owner5 moThese quotes doesn't necessarily prove that they aren't Christian, and maybe some weren't but I was mainly thinking of George Washington who was Christian.
To me these quotes seem to be justifications in why church and state should be separated, but the values are based on the Bible. Free speech, private property, private ownership of weapons, innocent until proven guilty and so on.
Asker5 moGeorge Washington being Christian doesn't mean the country was founded on "Christian principles." He was the first president, not a king. Also, the Founding Fathers were escaping religious tyranny in Europe.
Opinion Owner5 moLiterally read the Bible and you will see where each of the values within our constitution come from. I promise you it's not hard.
Asker5 moDo you realize that there are other religious and philosophical texts that promote the same values? Do you know how many different transactions there are of the Bible? Try actually studying other sources.. "It's not that hard." Christianity doesn't have the monopoly you think it has. The fog of white Christian nationalism is clouding historical truth and invalidating anything outside of its narrow scope. This is truly frightening.
Opinion Owner5 moYou lost me at the "white christian nationalism" part. I can't take anyone who unironically uses that buzzword seriously.

Asker5 moKinda dilutes the whole "Christian nation" pronouncement. Don't ever remember JD expressing the notion of religious pluralism. If he did, that would be a lie too. Remember when JD called Trump an "American Hitler"? I actually agreed with him then.
Asker5 moYou don't remember when JD called him that... or when Lindsey Graham told the truth about him too? Does "American exceptionalism" include calling the Epstein Files a "Democratic hoax" after making their release the centerpiece of his campaign... with Patel and Bondi as his cheerleaders. Asker5 moSimple. He's the Vice President pushing a false religious narrative. He did it again the other day. What he says and does should matter to all Americans. Christian nationalism and interfaith don't go together. He should be embracing religious pluralism instead of pushing a condescending and false narrative regarding religion. This is a not so subtle attack on diversity, equity and inclusion... which is at the core of Project 2025.
Asker5 moYou're just chasing your tail which is amazing to watch you do with your head up your ass simultaneously!

Asker5 moOh, I see! You don't give a shit about what national leaders say... except if it's "libtards" like Biden, Obama or Clinton, right? What leaders say influences policy. Policy affects my money, security and rights. In this case, my rights regarding religion. Let me repeat myself... white Christian nationalism and interfaith don't go together. Period. I prefer national leaders who dedicate themselves to protecting everyone's right to religion or NO religion.
