Would you rather die young and happy or old and unhappy?

From these two scenarios, if you had to choose, which would you pick?

A) Die young but happy knowing that you accomplished all that you wanted to. You fulfilled your goals and dreams at an early age and are happy with your life. However in this case, you were never able to marry or have children.

B) Die old but unhappy that you never got the chance to do many of the things you really wanted to do. You are unhappy and regret not doing certain things in your life. In this case, you did have the chance to get married and have children.

Just incase some of you didn't want to read the descriptions and just went off of the title header, I included marriage and children in the scenarios, does that make a difference in what you would pick?

not going to vote for either :P I don't want to die young, I have my 4 grandparents alive, and 4 of my great grand parents died not so long ago, all around 100 years old, and they walked, they heard, they saw, I have good reasons to believe I'm going to be able to grow older in a not so bad way, so if I get ti be old I will still be capable of many things, but I may be NAIVE, but my idea is this:

I TRULY believe happiness is a CHOICE, no, choosing is not enough, but it all starts with a choice, and even if your choice fail, you can still choose to rejoice anyway, so, if I could choose, I would choose being able to get to an older age even if, in return, I get a "not so happy life", now don't get me wrong I don't want to be unhappy, but really, again, happiness is a choise, and a longer life will only mean more opportunities to look for happiness, you say, and I agree than an old guy would be unhappy for all the things he never did, but I say, if I live long enough, I WILL be fighting for those things I care about, and if I never married, and wish I did, if I die young I would never have the chance, but if I live to say, 90 years old and just then I realize "should have gotten married" well, is NEVER too late, maybe I will not be able to have children then but can become a teacher maybe and give classes to kids, if I outlived my loved ones, man I don't think that can happen, I may outlive my siblings, mayber even my children! but still I know I will have someone to love, and if there is no more family or friends, there will ALWAYS be someone that needs love, and I can love that someone, or hey! adopt a puppy.

furthermore, I say again, I CHOOSE to be happy, and I choose it constantly, because I CAN, the one thing I can not do is choose my time to die, so if I were given the choice "what do you want? happiness or longevity? I can grant you ONE wish but not both" I WILL PICK a LONG life, because that's the one thing I can not get only by choosing it, let the genie of the bottle or whoever grant me a long life and I WILL FILL IT WITH JOY.

REALLY if the "genie" were like "I will grant you ETERNAL life, but the price will be that you will never be able to procreate, if you marry someone she dies, you will not be able to travel outside your country, and you will spend the rest of eternity feeding exclusively of garlic" I would STILL pick eternal life and not because I do not care about love or pleasure, here is what I would do:

I would take my eternal life and LOVE fully, first learn to love my new diet :P then FULLY loving a woman, I could not marry her but I WILL BE ABLE to love her, I will never be able to grant her a child but we can adopt or she can use a substitute father and we both lñive a hppy life with OUR children that I'm going to love as minem and MAN! it will hurt like hell when she passes away but I will have my children and grandchildren, and will be there for my greatgreatgreat grand children, and find new ways to love and rejoyce

Definitely not B because one of my biggest fears is to be old and still unhappy. Option A has a conflict because the number one accomplishments for me are getting married (well marriage isn't necessary) with someone I love and having children. All the other stuff don't really matter if I can't accomplish those.

But I guess I would choose option A no matter what.

A - die young but happy. I don't care when will I die as long as my life had meaning, sense and a real point in. Is it a life to live long and unhappy? Isn't it like vegetating? Yes, you get to have kids and marriage but if you're unhappy then it wasn't the right wife and in my case husband but we made kids to suffer our relationship anyway?!

Dying without marrying and having children does not mean dying after having all the goals fulfilled.. in fact - those are the most important goals of them all!

I think we have quite different perspectives when it comes to what is 'happiness'

The point of humans is to leave offspring, It's how animals work. As good as A sounds, that's not what your instincts would choose, ultimately.

Old and unhappy. I want to get married and have a family. My life would not be as complete without that aspect. I may be unhappy that I didn't get to do some things in my life, but having a family someday is top priority of mine.
