@Bananaman177 You won't hear any disagreement from me on that point, it's the staying power that differs. 400 years from now will hulk hogan be required watching? Real housewives, you never know what will last, because we won't last long enough to see the answer there.
I think their staying power or potential staying power is a lot higher than some might think just because their performances were captured on film which can still be viewed today, and most of the shit they said during promos was fucking hilarious and always will be.
I just saw an old clip where Macho Man Randy Savage had apparently lost a match the night before, and they asked him how he was feeling about it, and he says, "I just stared into a candle for two hours and got my head back together."
I think shit like that will always be hilarious. I think characters like that will always endure way more than whatever desperate housewife or what have you.
@Bananaman177 Again, you never know. I would have never predicted the reality tv craze 20 years ago, there were one or two on MTV, then they were everywhere to the point that I'm not sure what exactly is being learned on TLC anymore. The ups and downs of being pregnant at 16? Who would have predicted what songs and artists would become "classical music" then classic rock? Wagner was considered trash in his day.
Anywho, the point remains, you never know until it's past you and another generation is looking at the merit there.
As they say it's not fake its real but the matches are set who's to win an not to win by the owner of the organization so they do get real injuries an it's real just the winner is made up
I only ever liked the story lines and backstage stuff because it's so ridiculous and over the top it can be funny. But the wrestling is boring because it's fake.

This doesn't apply to your question. I know how you like blonde jokes though. So the blonde is told she's pregnant. She says are you sure its mine?
Good one, I love it! ... thank you :)
After watching maury, a plus for being a woman is you know the child you're raising is yours
The only way anyone would go from MMA to pro wrestling is for money, e. g. Ken Shamrock, Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey.
I think some of them got tired of getting hit in the face!
Maybe Ronda lol
It's redneck soap operas for men. Oh my god, the bad boy kicked the good guys ass, but wait, he's tagging in the underdog!
It is soap opera, but so is Shakespeare.

Personally I'm not into fighting for sport, but I'd imagine it's the same reason people can enjoy any scripted performance. Just different moods.
It kind of explains things when you see a good majority of GaG are wrestling fans.

Maybe some of used to watch wrestling growing up. Now they have a chance to be in it.
As they say it's not fake its real but the matches are set who's to win an not to win by the owner of the organization so they do get real injuries an it's real just the winner is made up
Totally different one is a full contact sport and the other is choregraphy plain and simple!
Nice, to the point, explanation! ... Thank you :)
Unlike movies the wrestlers sometimes have real beef backstage aka Real Life.
Things get personal like Randy Orton vs Edge or Matt Hardy vs Edge or Randy Orton vs Kofi Kingston. Which those Matches cause those real personal.
Professional wrestling is essentially a show, like reality TV.
Wrestling WWE has story line, You have hero's like in the comics. They can be part of the crowd, like Ali show was a fighter and showmanship.
Its all in fun Sports Entertainment ESPN SHOWS WWE events. Even Dania white has gone to watch Ronda Rousey wrestle at Wresrlemainia
Thrill of the sport and competitions are held in a controlled environment so it's relatively safe.
they can't, i ran into mma first and im never going to watch wrestling
Sakuraba came from pro wrestling.

It's difficult because it is so obviously staged. So I would think it's different audiences.
It is all fake from beginning to end. The only thing that is real is cage fighting.
The same people that live "real life" enjoy theatre "fake life" ahahahah
People just love the drama - all of it. doesn't matter if it's real or not.
because they only watch it for the violence, they don't care if its true or not
