Trying to hold on to my OnePlus 3T as long as I can since I don't like newer phones.
Mine has :
- An OS (Android 10) that doesn't put restrictions on file navigation and the old games still work on it.
- Complete customization without any worries about Safetynet or bricking the phone, and without having to beg the manufacturer for an unlock code.
- Fast performance and 4G calling (The latter one thanks to my modification of the modem), so it should still last me a while and it really isn't worse than many other phone's I see today.
- Physical navigation buttons including a finger print reader at the front.
- A headphone jack
- A notification slider to quickly put the phone on mute
If I switch phones I get a phone which speed doesn't benefit me, that does less things I want and lacks hardware features I enjoy.
I had a flip phone for so long I could no longer get batteries for it. My wife had a smart phone for so long I could no longer update the OS and could not install the latest apps.
I used to just about every 1 year or 2. Since switching to iPhone (January this year) I donât feel a need to upgrade. I upgraded my zflip 3 to the z flip 5 though. That was 2 years and i wonât upgrade my iPhone until next year either.
I like it when they keep their value.
Whenever my job gives me a new one.

I don't have a phone, nor do I want or need one. However, I did have one of those old Nokia 3310 phones back in the early 2000s, only because someone I knew had a plan for it, but never used it, so it was given to me. Then about 7-8 years ago I had a brief moment of curiosity, and I bought my friend's old iPhone 5c to see if I really wanted a smartphone or not. I tried it and was like, meh! 🤷🏼ââïž Which pretty much summed up how I've always felt about phones in general, so I have no real interest to ever get one again. I actually enjoy life more without one and I live more in the moment by not having one. It's just not for me. Besides, I've saved a lot of money by not having to buy phone plans, phones, etc. over the last 20+ years. For me personally, it's a win-win.
Only when I have to.
Right now, I am a tad pissed-off. In April 2020, I bought a Google Pixel 4XL from Best Buy. No complaints there and I like the phone although I had to replace it once; I've NEVER had a phone I didn't need to replace except my Motorola Droid 4 which I miss.
Anyway, this phone is not even 4 years old but LAST YEAR, Google would no longer push Android updates to it, so I will be stuck on Android 13 until I get a new phone.
I had my galaxy note 9 like 4 years. But it was i rough shape with a cracked screen. I decided to get a new google pixel 7 last year. Honestly, i like it and the great news about the google phones is they probably are supported the longest. I think my pixel 7 is supported to 2027 so if i don't manage to crack it by then i can safely use it until 2027.
I don't have any specific time span. My Samsung Galaxy 2020 was great and survived 3 years without the fail and i didn't plan to change it anytime soon, but I found under the tree the newest version and slowly migrate to it :D
I use the same phone until it breaks down or I see a good deal on a new phone. Iâve had my current phone for around 5 years now. It works perfectly but the screen is scarred and one of the two cameras is blurry.
like never lol. unless i truly can't use it anymore. i'm not someone to just get a new phone because i want it, when my current phone works just fine
When my phone breaks or will no longer run the software I want to run.
When I break mine. Why should I feed the machine. It's me that I want to take care of.
I always have two phones, and I would keep them forever if something new doesn't catch my eye. But the forever thing never happens.
It took dang near six years for my last upgrade.
As long as it still works I don't upgrade, and I don't do contracts. I'm not really into smart phones.
I only get a new one when my phone starts having issues. I get used to the phone and I hate changing it. I wish it would last forever
when it stops working I had a note by samsung and now have there a13/4? it records takes a good photo and works as a two sim phone very well
Whenever it no longer works. My current one was made in 2016. Still has 92% on original battery.
Whenever the batteries drop their max charge to about 85% or less- usually every 3-4 years.
I haven't done this yet but I'm thinking of changing it this summer
About every 4 years. I don't buy anything made by Apple so my phones don't gert purposely trashed by the people that made them.
Every 3-4 phone generations. in my early 20s it was every year.
Whenever it no longer works or the provider doesnât provide service for it.
