Pokémon GO Craziness Kicks Off!

Pokémon Go is out in the USA, Australia, and New Zealand. Since it's release in those countries it's already taken over the world by storm. But first, I know some of y'all might be asking...

What is Pokémon Go and what do you do?

Good question! The answer to that is it's an augmented reality app game created by Niantic, Inc and published by Nintendo. The Pokémon franchise has been around for over 20 years now, the original Pokémon games were role-playing games with an element of strategy. It was first introduced on the Game Boy handheld. The game series started to become even more popular with the anime TV show called, "Pokémon."

With Pokémon Go it uses your cellphone's GPS along with it's clock, to help detect where and when you are in the game and make Pokémon "appear" in your area. As you travel/move around neighborhoods, towns, cities, etc more types of Pokémon will appear depending on where you are and what time it is. They came up with this idea for the game to encourage players to travel around the real world to catch Pokémon in the game. Here is a link that goes into more detail about how the game works.

Though thanks to the app it has created not only great fun but also complete madness on how people try to find them. First you have a man that caught a Pidgey while his wife was in labor. Lucky for the man his wife is very understanding and just through the whole thing was funny as hell.

Pokémon will show up everywhere, even on your toilets! Though I'm not surprised about, a lot of people take their cellphones with them when they go to the bathroom anyways.

Places you could end up

Some players are being sent to strips clubs, graveyards, churches, central park in New York, and the Sydney Opera House in Oz. So the game is doing its job in making everyone travel across the land, searching far and wide. Though the police would really like it if people would stop following them into their station.

The game is possible due to Randomized encounters on a virtual map of your location. Though sadly other people have taken advantage of this and robbed players when being sent to different locations to catch them. The robbers were armed and carried a handgun, they were between the ages of 16-18 years old. So parent's, make sure your kids are safe and not to go off to certain places for.

This is only the beginning to the madness Pokémon Go has brought to the world and it's not about to stop. Once it hits the rest of the world who knows what will happen!

Ugh, this game doesn't work on my phone so I have no choice but to just not give a damn.

But, the kids in my class all have phones that are younger than mines 5 years, so two in my drama class left because they got a notification that a pokemon was nearby, then had to abandon the search because it was raining XD

Also my English teacher now knows what pokemon are after having the game explained to her, and we had to perform a harmless experiment to do with conditioning on the year sevens, and a few of them refused so they could go off and catch pokemon.

It's bloody ridiculous.

Pokemon Go is a cool idea and a cool game, but it is getting over exposure and turning into something similar to an old internet meme that gets a 10-hours-straight video.
I guess it's kinda like candy crush but with about multiple times the exposure and hype. Fun for a bit, but give it another month of everyone talking about it and it gets a bit... annoying. I can't escape it D:

I have read and heard on the news people already finding dead bodies and causing accidents. I have also read someone made the driver make an illegal u-turn so they could catch a Pokémon. It is causing people that normally don't get out much to go outside and get some exercise but they are glued to their phones so they really are not going outside for the fun of beinging outside, nature, nice weather etc it us mainly to catch Pokémon. I have seen people walking down streets that don't normally get many walkers if any at all. Others at work think this Pokémon Go is ridiculous. One of them saw a group of people who looked to be around 18years old going to churches to catch Pokémon on a random day like Thursday around 12pm. I bet it is mainly gamers playing. I have heard people driving around just to catch Pokémon. my point is the whole Pokémon Go thing seems stupid.

It's a cool idea, but I'm just waiting for the lawsuits to start. Somebody is going to get killed because of this game. And guess who the lawyers are going to point their fingers at? The liability is through the roof on this. I'm surprised someone hasn't been killed already.

It should be illegal to Pokemon and drive just like it's illegal to text and drive in many places. It should be a serious offense, enough to lose a driver's license from doing it. I do not want to be on the road with a bunch of idiots playing this game while driving.

But even without driving there are all kinds of problems. Going into bad neighborhoods, trespassing, accidents, entering environmentally unsafe areas, etc.

Hate to be a party pooper, but while watching the videos all I can think of is how much liability there is.

I like the general idea, but I think it needs a LOT of work for it to be a solid and safe game. I'm sure there will be a lot of variations coming out, so see what the future holds.

I have walked 40 kilometers in 3 days of playing...
You can call it stupid, and childish, but at least I'm getting more exercise than I used to. This game is going to make me a healthier person, and outside of sports, I have never heard of a game doing that for you.
Also, I have talked to so many random people playing this game. People I might have just passed or never seen, never taken the time of day with.

I didn't think it was big in my town til last night at like 10:30 PM I was downtown (idk why our town has a downtown but it does somehow) and someone had 3 lures up on really close pokestops that you could sit in a parking lot and get all of them. Just in the time I was there (about the last 10 minutes of the lure), about like 30 people came to get in on it. Also caught a hypno that is now my highest CP pokemon. prob going back there today

That's awesome ^_^. That's cool how they decide certain different types of pokemon coming out based off of the environment your in. Like I am sure there is a way around that like catching certain elemental pokemon. So you could probably find a electric type pokemon if you point your phone at a light bulb in your house? Lol or a grass type just go outside in your backyard, or water type like they have done just go to your bathroom lol, for fire types just light a match and have someone hold the match for you while pointing your phone at the match with fire lighting up lol. Ghost types or dark types just turn the lights off in your house lol, ground types probably dig a ditch in your backyard lol , but what about psychic types? Where would you find those? hahah lol

There are a lot of flaws in this game though. Like how you have to pay real life money to get pokeballs and how you don't actually get to use pokemon moves when you fight the gym leader its just mainly based off of stats. And you can't actually get into random battles like in the original games. Another disappointment is that its not multiplayer so you can't trade with other people or battle them.
