Hillary Duff, the actress, was body shamed for wearing a swimsuit on the beach and being photographed by the paparazzi...

What in the name of all that is holy is going on?!

She has an awesome figure. She's muscular enough and she keeps in shape!

+ she's a mom... She has a 5 year old boy...

She's been through it and came out swinging!

In her teenage years she used to be really skinny, but now, in my personal opinion, she looks much better than before!

She looks healthy and happy!

She addressed the body shamers saying that this post is for all the young girls, women and mothers: "I’m turning 30 in September and my body is healthy and gets me where I need to go. Ladies, lets be proud of what we’ve got and stop wasting precious time in the day wishing we were different, better, and unflawed."

She admits she, like any other person who's actually REAL and ALIVE, has flaws...and she's okay with them!

I respect that and her reaction to this whole thing...

As a nudist, I'll never understand why anyone would shame someone for their appearance. You're their to enjoy the beach, and you'd enjoy the beach a lot more if you weren't judging everyone else. The human form is beautiful, no matter the age, gender, body type, ability, and/or weight.

OK. I’ve just read the title. Guilty. Here is the thing though. Who cares? So? Someone wears something, someone photographed her and…wrote some BS. Why anyone pays attention to this? That’s the problem. Don not give negative reaction, give…no reaction. Ignore that. It’s hard (for some people).

Girls (pre teens even) are her Twitter followers... They get their self esteem through what they read about other people they might idealize. If they idealize her body and people comment on that body saying it's fat, most of those impressionable kids will develop an eating disorder of some kind or at the very last a very negative relationship with food...
I don't expect you to understand or care... but, please, THINK before commenting something as irrelevant as what you've commented right now...

So now you're moving the target of your outrage to be about the pre-teen girls who follow her twitter. Those girls' parents have just as much responsibility for their daughter's body images as the Duff body shamers. And who's to say that a negative body comment is any more harmful than a positive comment? Should pre-teen girls be comparing their bodies to those of celebrities? Again, parental responsibility is key.

@CactusJuice I wouldn't say it's a parental responsibility. Girls are constantly being judged especially when they are younger. I was teased a lot when I was younger and developed an ED and no matter what my parents did or said to me, I never believed them. They did everything they could to help, but my peers and social media is what I found to be the truth. For Hilary to be body shamed when her body looks great is outrageous and can totally affect other women.

I'm with Howard Stern on this. Simple rule... All women should weigh 100 pounds no matter what their height. I also go with the guy who asks why you care. This isn't about you, it's about her. I think that women who get their knickers in a knot about this kind of thing are insecure and worried that their own bodies aren't attractive to men even though they will claim that they are not. If you truly were secure with your own looks it wouldn't be any of your concern what comments someone makes about someone elses' body.

Why should people care about bodies? Does it really matter? Yes beauty is in the eyes of the beholder but God created man in His likeness. Beauty is only skin deep. Why not care about someone's personality? Why not care about their health and well being? Why their bodies? Everyone has imperfections, flaws and insecurities. But they also have so much more to offer than just their body. It's not what's on the outside, but what's on the inside!

People being critical of stars is a common thing. When a male star gets doughy all the magazines and media poke fun or talk about how they look and no one says shit. Why does it have to be a big waa waa issue when it's a female getting EQUAL treatment from the media.

Because (in my opinion) on 'average' it tends to effect women more on an emotional level than it does men. Women tend to be more valued for beauty than men are. I know plenty of men who are pretty overweight and don't see a problem with it but then women who gain a few pounds and freak out. Not saying men aren't affected at all because then obviously you wouldn't have the gym rats, guys using steroids and and what not. Or men with anorexia (which is a very very small percentage. .3. How 3... ".3". But it's still there). But on 'average' it doesn't seem to be AS big of a concern for the average guy and it's easier for them to dismiss body shaming. However I know there are guys that DO get worked up over it. I've seen it. Believe me. Though if you REALLY want to get to men on a emotional level, talk about their money/career issues. With women it's more about how they look and with guys it's more about how successful they are.

The reason there are fewer men with eating disorders isn't that men aren't as affected or that it isn't as big a concern... 7 out of 10 suicides are male for a reason. A lot of that is likely that society coddles women and treat us like we are disposable.
Most men have some body issue... we just aren't permitted to talk about it because if it doesn't affect women, no one cares, even the media.

There are a VAST number of reasons a person may be suicidal. Reasons that we know nothing about unless we are them. Using anything like that to say "See this proves such and such" just doesn't work. YES there are probably quite a few guys who become suicidal over body issues but that's not concrete proof. Stats are just numbers. They don't tell you the whole story.

The male suicide epidemic is because of the basic anti-male gynocentrism of society. But body image is definitely a part of that. My "dark" statistics are actual statistics... so regardless of your need to excuse them, they are still true.
Saying that stats are just numbers is like saying gravity is just a theory.
Back to the topic... Hilary Duff got "criticized" for being a famous person and everyone loves to do that with famous people. SHE turned it into a "shaming" along with the idiot media, because it helped push the nonsense "women are victims" narrative.
But in actuality, she was no more made fun of than ANY male star who has put on weight. But since it doesn't fit the false victim narrative, you don't hear about it.

I'm not excusing anything. You appeared to be using the suicide rate as a direct correlation. I'm not saying no guys kill themselves over body issues but why each person does it is hard to say. I mean if I followed your suit I could have said that women are likely more affected by this problem because they attempt suicide more often but I wasn't going to do that for various reasons. 1: I don't know their reasons and 2: I'm not here to dismiss anyone.

I gave you a very reasonable answer. Due to our biology and all of that women are more desired for their beauty (appearance of youth, healthfulness, fertility) and while those things are also important in men in order to reproduce and pass on good genes they are more valued for their ability to provide. Even if we don't think so this in instilled into most of us subconsciously. Women, on average, are more concerned with how they look while men, on average, are more concerned with how much money they make. You don't see people shaming women for not having a decent career or requiring financial aid or government funded income assistance or using food stamps as much as they shame men for it. Even though women are more likely to use those resources.

But whatever just go off about something completely different. Rant on... Nevermind the fact that there are so many variables to life. I can see where this is leading and I don't like talking to brick walls so I'm out. Peace.

Her career may spark up again or she may vanish without a trace but she will not the career she had in her youth. There does seem to be an expiry date on female celebs like duff that their career slows down post 30, obviously there are exceptions to that.
