Since the grocery stores have raised their prices, do you think they will continue to stay at the high prices even if inflation goes down?

In America 🇺🇸 I think grocery stores will continue to stay at these high prices and will never be lowered again, even in the face of inflation going down.
Usually when a store raises prices, they don't lower them again. Why should they when people are still buying food at such high prices? Do you think they will lower them again one day, if so, how?

Most likely! As always, once they find people are sucker enough to pay those kinds of prices, they'll keep them the same, if not raise them. About 10 years ago, I could get bacon for about $2.50 a pound. Even though the economy was booming during the Trump years, the price of bacon still went up! Before Joey cheated his way into office, it was about $4.00 a lb.. Now, it's at least $7.00 a lb.!! Once Trump gets back in and fixes Joey's mess, bacon will still probably be $7.00 a lb..
I've been saying since the first round of massive inflation back in the `70's that people would make a LOT more money if they LOWER their prices!! You figure how many are buying it now at the present rate and compare that to how many refuse to buy it at that rate. Then, you lower the price to get those refusers to buy it, people find out about how low the prices is and they flock to the store to buy more of it because they can afford it, now, that rakes in more money for the person selling it! So, lower it some more and get even more hold-outs!!
If you sat on a corner selling lemonade for 50 cents a glass, you wouldn't get very many takers! If you lower the price to 25 cents a glass, you'll sell a lot more! 10 cents a glass would get a lot more!

I've never seen grocery stores lower their prices when market pressures were relaxed, just as I've never seen insurance companies lower their rates when they secured the passage of laws more favorable to them on the claims side of their business.

Food shortages were projected to begin in January of 2023 with food shortages lasting for 3 years until food supplies returned to stable levels. There have also been an endless chain of "industrial accidents" with tons of food processing factories, logistics warehouses, and even food banks being lit on fire and even planes crashing into them... Prices on food will only go up up up... If you have half a brain you'd be growing as much food as you can in your yard already...

Inflation alone isn't the only thing driving prices. The cost of logistics, which is also affected by fuel and driver scarcity is a huge factor. For produce, a lot of farms and ranches are getting hit by fertilizer shortages and being bought out by big investors who are then shutting them down for various reasons. Did you know that Bill Gates is the biggest farmer in the US, and that he's also a proponent of making foods derived from animals too expensive to be anything other than a luxury item? Now you do.

Grocery Stores themselves have very little to do with the prices since they typically mark everything proportionate to what it costs them to stock. Grociers also tend to operate on the lowest profit margins of any industry in the country (typically very close to the rate of inflation), so they have very little room to adjust, even if they want to.

If you want grocery prices to go down, there's an easy solution: ban grass. The only reason to grow the stuff is conspicuous consumption; saying "I'm so rich I don't need to use my good cropland for food". You'd need to hawe exceptions for livestock owners, of course, but make everyone grow dandelions, or some other edible plant, and you'd see prices drop like greased meteorites.

There'd have to be a massive bailout of farmers, but still.

I just wish Putin would stop raising our prices!!! Yes, prices will come down. Look at lumber; it's collapsing. But that also means we're in for a bad recession to adjust things back down.

They'll lower them by a penny and expect us to praise them for it. The truth is even before all this started there was a massive mark up on goods. Remember they were already making a big profit on "reduced" stuff and sales items.
They won't instantly lower prices but what they will do is put more stuff on "sale" to give the impression their lowering prices out of their own goodness.

Not immediate lowering will be there. The process will be gradual.

The stock that is at higher price will be sold at higher price. But the next batch will have balanced prices. And this step will be taken one or one and a half month later the inflation balances out.

It will definitely not be immediate.

Prices rarely are lowered once people agree to pay the higher price. I expect food prices to stay at their current levels, and maybe increase some more, for the next few years,
