Am I right to be annoyed?

I was really looking forward to valentines day... I know it's commercial and its just one day of the year, but I'm a hopeless romantic and just love to do something on the day.

I was hoping to get dolled up and look fabulous but the guy I've been seeing has invited his mum out for dinner too.

She's been visiting for 2 months and every weekend we're out with her day and night. Literally till midnight. Most weekends we get to his for 1am and then he thinks I wanna get frisky gone 3am after he's watched whatever he wants on TV...
Anyway, indont mind seeing her etc but on valentines day?
When we get minimal time together as it is...
I was kinda about his suggestion but I genuinely thought he would realise its not really for me...
I wanted to dress sexy and wear a short dress out, but because his mum is coming, I'm more inclined to cover up as she always gives me the look when I'm not covered up and don't cover my arms and legs.

Don't really know how it will go but it's made me feel a tad frustrated tbh.
There's no bigger mood kill then mum coming along to the romantic meal out.
Do I cover up or wear something sexy.
His mum is 70, I'm 29

Sorry to hear you are dating a Momma boy , you are in for a rude awakening with that one but i am not here to judge or criticize , but if you really like this guy you are best to wear something that covers you up , out of respect for his Mom , because if you wore something sexy and more revealing his mom is going to lecture him on why he is dating a girl that dresses like a whore , So even though I agree it’s fucked up he invited his Mom , you are best to gain respect from her , instead of having her not respect you , Parents can play a huge part on their children without realizing it , so it’s best to gain respect over them instead of saying who gives a fuck what they think. He obviously cares about his mum. Though Valentines Day us typically fir couples, it's really fir those you care about. At least you will be with him and his mum.

Suggestion... save the sexy dress for another time and take him to dinner, just the two of you. I bet if you talk to his mum about that, she'll wish you well.

I agree that you have every right to be annoyed. Valentine's Day is for couples and it should be just the two of you unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Yeah I agree. I wouldn't mind, she has been with us every weekend, every weekend it's 'let me ring my mum and see what she wants to do'.
It frustrates me that I'm a second thought half the time.
No one wants to spend 5 hours plus with their partners mum

Well he said himself it would be weird and then I kinda was like yeah well it is but I also don't want her to feel excluded from going for a meal (all valentines day stuff aside). But obviously thinking back now, I'm constantly passifying things an being nice about everything he suggests.
I didn't directly state I was against it.
But I think most guys would realise or know not to invite mum along

I agree. Like personally, I wouldn’t have invited her. But the reality is everyone is different. And he had a different thought process and perspective and that’s fine.

I can only speak from what I hope my girlfriend would do if I was dropped into this situation. Which is, I hope she’d talk to me about her feelings about it. And I’d work to figure out a way to plan another time to meet up with my mom. Maybe find a time to do a mom son day.

So yeah. I’d bring it up with him. You can tell him you know it’s pretty late to be bringing this up. But you were really hoping it would be a special day just for you two. And that you’ll still go if she comes, but ask him if there is anyway he can talk to her about changing the plans.

But the reality is. There is a chance he simply doesn’t know how important it is to you that it just be you two.
