Does your girlfriend constantly bug you about watching too much television? Maybe she gets upset when you meet the guys to watch the big game or maybe she just hates that you are a permanent fixture in front of the television during football or baseball season. No matter what sport you follow, the truth is that most of us girls hate it when you watch sports!

Finding one of us that loves sports as much as you do might be nearly impossible, so the best thing to do is try to understand why we hate your habit. Take a look at these reasons and surprise your us with your changed attitude toward our nagging.

Reason #1: You stop paying attention to your girlfriend
When you are watching sports, you aren't paying attention to us. The number one reason we hate it when you watch sports is because when you are concentrating on the big game, you aren't paying attention to us. Girls require a lot of your attention. You might find that when we already have plans, we don't mind that you are wrapped up in the game. But, when we have nothing to do, we certainly don't want you to ignore us just because your team is playing.

Reason #2: We don't understand the game
We've never tried being a fan and just don't get the game. Have you ever really tried to get us girls to watch football with you? If you want to take the time to teach us the rules of the game, and if you don't mind that we might ask a million questions throughout, then we might be more willing to try being a fan. But, if you get annoyed because we are asking questions and just expect us to be silent during the entire game, we likely won't be happy.

Reason #3: Sweaty jocks are disgusting
We don't want to see a bunch of sweaty men running around on television. The truth is that most of us girls find jocks disgusting. That is, unless they've showered and are out of uniform. We are often disgusted watching a bunch of baseball players spitting and sweating on the field. Even us girls who enjoy working out will rarely let our boyfriends see us until after we've showered. Sweating is something we would prefer to keep hidden. When we see men basking in the glory of their own sweat, it is gross!

Reason #4: You get upset when your team loses
We hate when boys get emotionally involved in the game. There is nothing worse for us than having a boyfriend who is in a bad mood because his favorite team didn't win their big game. We just don't understand how guys can get so emotionally involved in sporting events. Even if you've followed the same team since you were young, and know the facts on each player, it still doesn't help us understand your commitment as a fan.

So, now that you know exactly why girls hate it when you watch sports, you can better understand how to handle being a boyfriend and a sports fan. There is a way to find compromise with us in your life. After all, life is just not as exciting without both us girls and sports in your life!

spricket Sports are so boring - just the same thing over and over again, except sometimes it's a big deal and sometimes it's not. Lame. - 7 months ago
babet I disagree with numbers 1, 2 and 3 but totally agree with number 4. I guess it's the same way men feel about women getting moody over "silly" things. - 7 months ago
monkey I pay attention to my girl when I'm watching the game, who else refills my beer?! ha, kidding. Good article, now I have some insight...though I'll still watch sports and she just needs to deal. - 7 months ago
The-Pixel-Ninja I'm not a sports fan, but try sitting down and watching the game with him, He'll likely pay more attention and try to explain the game to you. We [Guys] generally like explaining how things work, especially when it's something were interested in. - 6 months ago
A-R-Norman I dunno--I think women need to give men their time and their space. Just like as we enjoy talking to our girl friends and hanging out do chick things, men need their moments too--I say let him watch his game and go hang out, but plan something to do as a couple when the game is over. - A month ago
Tomasz81 Ok, no problem! I'll give up sports as soon as you give up shopping. - 17 days ago

Guys: Do you really fall in love with a girl?
lvrgirl2011 asked 2 days ago

Yes, I've been in love.

No, I've never been in love.

I'm scared to love someone.

LOVE is an over-used word that doesn't have meaning.
