Shy girl's body language?

Months back when I first took interest in her, I asked her out, but she said she had a boyfriend. At the time I had barely begun talking to her. She said that then left for vacation. When she came back her attitude towards me was very warm, her smile was a dead giveaway. Ever since she came back she opened up like never before. Everything that I wrote above happened after she came back. I have an odd feeling that she lied about having a boyfriend. My instincts tell me that she likes me a lot.

I am stumped. I wonder if maybe back then it wasn't the appropriate time, maybe I moved to fast, and only now is the time. Not sure, since shy girls are new to me.

I sincerely hope that you have been able to make some progress. Yeah, it seems that she just said she had a boyfriend as an automatic defence reflex. On the other hand, something may have happened whilst she was on holiday why they broke up. I think that the former is most likely, but either way, it seems to have worked in your favour.

So as I said before, ask her out informally, just as friends... (continued...)

The thing here is that girls are not stupid. If you ask them out "as friends"... They will usually know that you're interested in them, unless you are blatantly in the friends zone. So what it does is take some of the pressure off, so that she will be more likely to say yes.

And then it is when you are on the date that you can express interest.

It's OK I have been sick with the flu for a few days. Interestingly last Monday which I didn't go to work due to being sick. I heard that she came dressed better than she normally does, this having been a day right after she and I had talked. She had mentioned that she loved fashion and clothes and I I mentioned to her that being Italian so did I. It actually makes sense and yes I think that either she lied or she broke up with him. Something that makes me think the first thing is

That she then went on to say this. "It's that you think I am perfect and I am not. I am not an angel. I am not special." It almost seemed like some kind of defense.

Her best friend gives out signs, like she knows something. I will ask her out informally and see how that goes.

I think the fact that she wants me to learn her language and culture means something (she is Slavic to them it is a big deal). She made it clear to me that she is old fashioned. My instincts tell me that I am very close.

Now the "boyfriend" issue. Should I at some point bring it up? Or should I do what she and I have been doing in all our conversations, and not even mention it?

One thing I should also add is that she has self esteem issues, and more than once has said that I am wrong when I say she has a beautiful smile or that she is beautiful, that it is not true.

It is good to hear that you are going to ask her out.

As fir the boyfriend issue, I would not mention it for now, for one of two reasons -

If she did lie... Then she may withdraw because that would be pretty embarrassing.

If she didn't, then she may still be getting over it, and it may be awkward if you do bring it up.

As for the self-esteem, don't worry about it for now because it's not really much of an issue. It may just be that she is...

"over modest", which is something that you will find in a lot of women. So don't worry, unless it seems to be a serious issue.

When I compliment a girl on her looks and she says something like "you're blind", or she disagrees, I just say something like "Well we're going to have to agree to disagree", or "Well you are to me". Because there is no point in turning it into an argument. So I just make it clear that beauty is subjective.

Saying that, most of my compliments are on a girl's personality, at least until she knows that I genuinely like her. Because then when I do compliment her on her looks later on, she knows that my compliments are sincere, and she will be more likely to accept the fact that you honestly think that she is beautiful.
