My boyfriend recently decided he wants to join the National Guard. I don't want him to at all but its ultimately his decision. He will be gone 11 months for training and may get deployed. He wants me to support him but also wants my opinion. I don't want to leave him over it but I also want him to understand how badly I don't want him to do it without making him mad. What do I say before its too late?

You should not try to talk him out of it, because it obviously is something that he really wants to do, and you should not stand in his way. He needs all of your support and understanding right now, if you love him, because this is probably going to be one of the hardest, if not the hardest things he will ever do in his life. It is a life-changing event. 11 months seems like a long time, but if you write and email him, along with phone calls, you will be able to keep in touch with him. And after he comes home, he will be very glad to be with you again, and grateful for your support of him. Its like a fresh start to your relationship. And think how proud you'll be of him!
You don't say anything. You give him your support and love him. Why do you have to end things because he wants to make a better life for himself. Just love him and be happy he is trying to better himself even if he has to leave for 11 months. Send him letters while he is gone and show him you love him. He is going to need it. He is willing to fight for you, me and our country. I would be proud of him.
I am going through the same thing, because my boyfriend wants to join the Navy. It's really hard, because I want to tell him not to go but on the other hand I always told him I would be there no matter what. You should talk to him and really be real and tell him how you feel about it.
