When you sing a song of somebody else you actually hear that other person voice in your head. So lot's of people think they sing good.
Record her voice and show it to her.
Have you tried recording her and letting her hear it? And keep a neutral face while playing it like you don't realise that it sounds.. different from the original song.
either be honest, or lie. indirectly tell her she doesn't sound like mariah carey. haha
