There are plenty of gay guys who would perform sexual acts on females despite being gay (not bi).
You feel more open to have deeper conversations because you see him as not having any sexual motives for befriending you. Those conversations can quickly lead to you over sharing details about your boyfriend and the relationship that he has no business knowing.
Chance that the friend could be labeled gay to the boyfriend when he isn't

And to any really good looking dude who's been approached by a mediocre girl and told, you're hot, please tell me you're straight, would know that sometimes girls are attracted to the guy before knowing he gay

It happens when:
1. A past girlfriend had cheated on them
2. Feeling of insecurity created by girlfriend having a separate and close relationship with a guy (even if gay) making the boyfriend feel that she likes being with the guy more than with him
Basically, jealousy comes out of insecurity. Some guys get angry if the girlfriend has close guy friends, that comes out of possessiveness.
To him, he probably still sees him as a guy who has your attention more than him. Maybe he's worried that you'll develop something with your gay friend? Or maybe it's the fact that you're hanging out with a biologically male more than him? A gay friend is still a guy friend.
It just because your boyfriend is a guy and he sees you bonding with your guy friend and jealousy kicks in
