What do you think of the Sharkeishas, Shamichaels, Shaniquas and Shaquandas of the world?
Are those names not as bad as Apple, North or Precious?
North is just as silly as Sharkeisha
Some names are Arabic in origin (sorry to offend but I'm sure I won't because I'm simply an American with different taste) but I don't like the sound of a lot of Arabic names either.
So Arabic names and culturally black names just aren't appealing to me.
I think some employers do tally a person's name into the application (which isn't fair, names like that give people a bad image vs a plain jane name(and that's not fair))
I think those names reflect parents who know they are bringing a child into the world where out of this world names like Sharkeisha are not taken seriously, bring unwanted judgment on children, and are more of a burden. I think someone has to be kind of selfish to still name their child something nonsensical like Sharkeisha after taking into account the flack she would get for it and the fact that it's simply a made up word they created just to be 'original' or pay homage to parents...The child and their life should be an homage to good parents, people don't have to brand their child to achieve recognition for being a person's parent.
Speaking of fruit, I know a girl named Apple. Sister name Strawberry. Brother named Kiwi. Aunt named peaches :p Names like that make me think a certain family loves their fruits.
Nothing because they didn't choose their. names. Igrew up with girls with those kinds of names, so I don't give it a second thought when hearing them . But if its something ridiculous like "Ni**amiah' ( yes I know someone with a middle like that), that's when I start to frown on them.
Lol I find it funny when people automatically.assume girls with those names are "ghetto trash" or " ratchet." As if names really define you. I've met quite a bit of ghetto : Courtneys and Whitneys and Tiffanys. Or someone's name would mean something sweet or brave, but the person is a bitch or cowardly.
ghetto trash is the first thought that comes to my mind. And I think that's what most people will associate with girls named "sharkeisha" "la-whatever" or "Shaniqua" etc. Names like North and Apple are just as bad in a different way. People that name their kids after fruits have too much money and too much time on their hands to spend thinking of stupid "unique" names.
LOL, that vine was hilarious! Sharkeisha LAID IT ON DAT BITCH!
Honestly, while I find names like that to be kind of stupid, I feel they have their place. It's a lot better than the other types of names you mentioned like North or Glimmer. However, those names are still very ratchet in my opinion. Like, why the fuck would you name your child Sharkeisha? Is that even in the baby names dictionaries? No wonder she is trying to beat the shit out of people.
Funny story! I was in Atlanta one day, when I decided to go get some Popeyes. I said to my self: "I bet my cashier's name will be Shaniqua". Of course, I go to order in the store and guess what my cashier's name was? Shaniqua... I'm still not sure if that means racial stereotyping is a bad or good thing, considering it helped me predict the future...
I wonder who made the Sha- so popular for female names. Names are names to me. I've always wondered if there were laws stopping someone from giving random numbers and characters in someone's name. Like could someone name their kid Gr8 or something? I heard in some southern state a judge made a kid named Messiah change his name because it should only be used for the second coming of Jesus or whatever. Is that even constitutional? Apparently it offended people. I guess only some names have to be legally changed?
I wonder if special characters are okay for names. If someone wanted to name their kid *Sarah* or K@hy. Eh I'm gonna look it up instead of ramble on in this answer.
Her name is supposedly (according to her twitter) a combo of her dads name Shamar and her moms name Keisha
Lol
but idk. I think that kid Messiah had to have a name change cause the parents were fight over the name change. The judge just said fck it, rename the kid

i have gone to school with a north, kevinisha, sharmonte, ki marri, tyquan, rayshaun. I dislike the names, personally.
it just seems like an extra step at being different, which I see nothing wrong with. these kids have to go through life with these names: college applications, job applications, etc. have a "different" name may give the reviewer an unreal perspective as to who you truly are.
I have no idea what you're talking about, but I'd bet money on her being black.
ahahah
Well, at least it's not Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116, lol.

That's worse than Beezow Doo-doo zopittybop bopbop :o
Terrible names. Weird names speak to the mindset of the parents, generally makes me question how they were raised.
Though I don't think Apple is as terrible as people make out. Lots of girls are named after flowers, and apples are generally associated with health and earthiness, hardly bad connotations IMO.
Pardon my blatant racism but they're "black" names. They would work on black girls. Not on any other race. Apple is alright, but North just does NOT work with the last name "West"...
ROFL I CAN NOT BELIEVE THOSE NAMES ARE REAL...
Talk about ratchet...
How are those girls going to get a job -_-
I guess they could always legally change their names. It just costs money and I've heard it's a rather difficult(or not so easy) process
All the names you listed (both categories) are hysterical but my only real concern about them is that I have a very hard time not bursting into laughter when I meet them. That has seriously been a problem for me.
I think "who the hell cares?". Those people didn't choose their own names and it doesn't affect my life in any way so why obsess over it?
I think Shark would be an awful nickname to have :O
I think of all the ghetto Courtney's, Amber's, and Jessica's I know.
Sounds like this struck a nerve...
I just put the first thing that came to my mind.
i'm fine with it, it's just a name. no big deal
Shaniqua is Muslim.
Arabic, whatever.
