What does it usually mean when a guy wants to take you to a bar?

My guy friend wants to take me to a bar, but I am thinkin he wants sex afterwards. I think that if a guy asks you to a bar that means he wants sex afterwards. Am I right? Have any of you guys asked a girl to go with you to a bar and not expect sex off of her? You just want to go out with her cause you like her, or want to get to know her? What does it usually mean when a guy asks a girl to go to a bar with him? Is it only for a hookup?

Well depends on how much of a friend he is. If you know him well enough and trust him, he pretty much just want to drink and talk to you, just hang out, maybe even he tells you to be his wingman.
If you two have flirted a little bit and are getting closer and everythin it may be more like a date, idk.
It doesn´t mean he just wants sex just for inviting you to a bar, if that's the case, better invite you home and buy booze for you to get instantly drunk.
its true alcohol makes things easier for us, so just use your common sense.

I know. I do have common sense, it's just I am a little bit weary. Don't know if I should hang out with him or not, I don't know what he wants and I don't want to lead him on if that's the case.

I don't think it's necessarily the case that he expects to get into your panties. Think of it as just going to get a drink together. Sort of like going to get coffee. Yeah, I know because of the alcohol it's different from coffee, but you're not gonna do anything with him you don't want to anyway, so what's the harm?
