Why is it that when you show a guy less attention, he gives you more?

I am friends, close friends, with this guy at work. When I show him a lot of attention, he backs away. If I don't talk, email or text him for a few days, he is dying to talk to me.

We call such people "attention seekers". When you start being distant, he comes around and asks for attention and once you give him what he wants, he starts drifting away once again. Such people seek attention and that's it. When you're loving and caring, he feels too comfortable and too confident that you will keep on doing so forever. They start feeling very insecure and angry once you stop supplying them with this kind of attention dose.

I don't like this attitude. It will drive you crazy. This guy is blowing hot and cold and is after your attention supply. I like my lover and my friends to be true and consistent in their behavior.

Not all people are like that for sure. He likes the attention you give him and he always wants more. Once you stop giving him that (and insist on stoping for good), you won't find him in your life. He'll ignore you and will chase after another girl or friend who gives him more supply.

Thanks, he has been stringing me alone for months. He is very hot and sexy and he knows it. I just get so frustrated the way he gets hot and cold. I have got to let him go. Thanks for the advice.
